This exhibition shows the moving account of Laurence Salzmann’s Journey Through the History of Jewish Lives: Romania, Jerusalem, Turkey (1974-89). Salzmann’s approach to his work was to develop a comfortable connection with his subjects so that while they spoke in their native languages and continued their activities, he went about his work, unobtrusively adjusting his cameras and his lights. The images he captured reveal the close connections the subjects felt not only with each other but with the photographer.
