This was split off #9010 to divide individual topics brought up there.
Steps to reproduce
- Have an account setup with file provider enabled
- Go to file provider domain and mark an item with "Always keep downloaded" custom action in context menu
- Then open the context menu to select the "Remove download" which is a first party action offered by Finder itself
Expectation
- Item content is evicted and and item becomes dataless
- The content policy of the item is changed back to the default
Reality
- Finder presents an error alert telling "The file Example.jpg cannot be ejected"
- Item remains materialized
- Item retains its content policy
- Apparently nothing changed
Notes
- Google Drive has the same issue.
- OneDrive somehow managed to suppress the "Remove download" action offered by Finder. 🤷🏼♀️
