UpCloud Startup Program – FAQ

The Startup Program is open to new customers. Startups founded within the last 24 months, registered in the EU, EEA, UK, UA, or CH, and holding a valid VAT ID are eligible. You must have an UpCloud account prior to application.
Credits are granted based on a three-tier system with objective criteria:

Tier 1: Up to $25,000 free credit for startups in the UpCloud ecosystem (VC, incubator, accelerator) that have raised more than €5M in funding.

Tier 2: $5,000 free credit for startups founded within the last 24 months in FI, SWE, NOR, DK, ICE.

Tier 3: $1,000 free credit for startups founded within the last 24 months from non-Nordic countries in the EU, EEA, UK, or CH.
Only Tier 1 requires affiliation with a VC, incubator, or accelerator that is part of the UpCloud Startup Ecosystem. Tiers 2 and 3 do not require this.
Credit validity is based on your assigned tier and is confirmed upon approval. Duration typically ranges from 12 to 24 months depending on tier.

Applications are generally reviewed within 5–10 business days.
You may be asked to provide the following:

Proof of company registration

Valid VAT ID

Funding round documentation (Tier 1 only)

Proof of accelerator/VC/incubator affiliation (Tier 1 only)
Credits can be used across the UpCloud platform, including compute, storage, networking, and managed databases. GPU Servers are excluded from credit usage; however, they may be enabled at UpCloud’s discretion under certain circumstances following onboarding. Further details on usage will be outlined in the welcome email.
Services continue uninterrupted at standard pricing, unless you remove or downgrade resources. You will be notified before your credits expire.
