The Research Services and Knowledge Transfer Office aims to coordinate and promote academic research, science & technology innovation, and knowledge transfer of UM, contributing to the University’s ambition of engaging in productive research with recognized international standards and significant local impact.

The Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) leverages UM’s industry-academia-research system to assist faculty, students, and alumni in transforming innovative ideas into entrepreneurial practices. The Centre has built a comprehensive innovation chain encompassing ‘achievement discovery, proof of concept, project acceleration, startup incubation, and industry cooperation’, which has gained regional influence and bridges the gap between the laboratory and the market. The Centre also cultivates interdisciplinary entrepreneurial talents, accelerates the commercialisation of research achievements, and connects with business partners to drive industrial upgrading and economic diversification in Macao.

HUMRI is UM’s premier industry-academia-research demonstration base in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin. Capitalizing on the unique ‘30-minute cross-border R&D and transformation system’ and the ‘3+1 transformation system’ strategic framework, it builds a deeply integrated ecosystem of ‘research, transformation, investment, and incubation’. As a crucial hub bridging Macao’s research strengths with the Greater Bay Area’s industrial capabilities, HUMRI drives the ‘Macao R&D, Hengqin Transformation’ ecology to propel regional industrial upgrading and Macao’s economic diversification.

Zhuhai UM Science & Technology Research Institute (ZUMRI) is the University of Macau’s first Demonstration Base for Industry-Education-Research in the Greater Bay Area established in Hengqin New District, Zhuhai. The construction and development of this demonstration base will become a joint hub for Zhuhai and Macao to support the integration of Macau into the country’s overall development and a platform for the science and technology transfer. ZUMRI will promote the industrialization and upgrading of scientific and technological achievements in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
