Football made all the difference in the primetime ratings last week, as NBC and Fox dominated their rivals thanks to big pigskin numbers.
NBC, riding Saturday's huge NFL wild-card contest between Seattle and Dallas, captured the week among adults 18-49--its fourth victory in six weeks. And although it figures to be a short-lived stay on the top, the Peacock's early-winter success has enabled it to catch ABC and CBS for the season lead in the demo.
Overall for the week of Jan. 1-7, NBC's 4.2 rating/11 share in adults 1849 topped Fox (4.0/10), with CBS (3.1/8) and ABC (2.9/7) further behind, Univision ran fifth (1.5/4), followed by CW (1.2/3) and USA (0.9/2).
