This year’s Trail will take place on 2-3 & 9-10 July, 2016.

The closing date for applications this year is 31 March, 2016 but we are still able to accept late entries.
Artists who open their studios or homes to exhibit their work to Trail visitors are especially welcome. However we realise that many cannot do so. So we have a regular group of artists and local residents who very generously agree to share their space and “host” our “homeless” artists. We actively encourage this as Trail visitors enjoy being able to view a variety of artwork and talk to several artists in one place.
If you are able to offer your home, studio, cafe, gallery, shop or any other exhibition space to be part of this year’s Trail, please email sydvizarts@gmail.com, phone 07726 909 809 or contact us here. A number of local home owners and traders have opened their homes and premises to artists and visitors during the last 7 years and we can put you in contact with them if you need more information about being an Artists Trail “host”.

2015 was the seventh year the Artists Trail has taken place during the Sydenham Arts summer festival. More than 100 artists took part and each year different artists join in as they move into the area. Last year for the first time artists in Honor Oak Park and Penge joined forces with the Sydenham and Forest Hill artists which brought even more new visitors to the Trail. There are many local artists with a wide range of skills: fine artists, print makers, photographers, ceramic artists, glass makers, textile artists, jewellers, sculptors. Whether amateurs or professional, all are welcome. In addition to the Trail many artists give demonstrations or run a workshop allowing visitors to participate.
Open Studios, open houses, shop, cafe’s and exhibition spaces.

It has been inspiring to meet many artists, hosts and visitors and to hear their comments about the Trail and the art. The Artists Trail was during the two weekends Saturday and Sunday | 12-13 July | 19-20 July 11am-5pm.
This year, there were more than 150 artists who invited you to view an incredible array of art and craft work.
We would like to thank all the artists and their hosts without whose hard work and generosity the Artists Trail would not be possible. Our special thanks to our designers Julie Bennett and Steve Mulford and to our sponsors Dan and Richard Crowley of Property World.
Our website contains more information about the artists and their work than we can possibly include in the Artists Trail broadsheet and we hope it will become a permanent directory of the activities of local artists. Please check the Stop Press! page for additions to the trail and for the latest information about workshops, demonstrations and talks offered by the artists for your delectation!
As well as old favourites in Forest Hill and Sydenham, this year, we have new venues in Honor Oak and Penge.
There will be major exhibitions at The Normanton Street church hall and The New Generation youth centre building – a light and airy space for dozens of printmakers, a jeweller and a sculptor. The ‘about-to-be’ refurbished Louise House on Dartmouth Road should be open by July and V22 invites you for a drink and a look around its new studio and exhibition space. The Lovely Gallery at 140 Sydenham Road will be holding an Open Art Exhibition with over 100 artists showcasing their work – go and vote for your favourite piece.
