Twinkle
[edit]Hi and welcome, Finfixer. I saw your reverts to Atlas Shrugged (thanks for those, by the way), and noticed that you needed two reverts to undo two consecutive edits by the same editor. If you enable the tool WP:TWINKLE on your account, you will be able to revert all consecutive edits by a single editor in one click. You can also configure your Twinkle preferences to automatically open the editor's talk page so you can leave a warning, and there is a Twinkle menu from which you can select from the common warning types. The tool makes a number of editing tasks easier. Hope that helps! Schazjmd (talk) 21:52, 2 May 2026 (UTC)
- Hey, thank you for the tip. I will certainly look into it. It will surely be usefull :) Finfixer (talk) 08:49, 3 May 2026 (UTC)

Welcome and introduction to contentious topics
[edit]Hi Finfixer! I noticed your contributions and wanted to welcome you to the Wikipedia community. I hope you like it here and decide to stay.
The rule that most affects new editors is the prohibition on making any edit related to the Arab–Israel conflict, including on talk pages, unless you are logged into an account that is at least 30 days old and has made at least 500 edits.
Any edits you make contrary to the contentious topic procedures are likely to be reverted, and repeated violations can lead to your being blocked from editing. If you have any questions about the contentious topic procedure, you can ask for help!

The Golan Heights request for comment is covered by WP:ARBECR. Accounts need to be extendedconfirmed to participate. Sean.hoyland (talk) 10:13, 5 July 2026 (UTC)
- I understand. The RfC caught my interest and pulled me in to comment before I could recall that part of the restriction. I should have because I have read the arbitration decision. ARBECR impacting the talkpage ended up hitting me like a truck when I actually scrolled up the massive convo and found the disclaimers. I decided not to rever my edit or do anything further as I figured it best to let extented confirmed users take care of that instead of pulling myself in deeper.
- As a sidenote, and something some day maybe worthy of bringing up as a village pump idea, could be having page warnings come up as pop up windows when entering a talk page so people don't miss them. The RfC link throws right to the topic so someone tunnel visioned on the RfC or that actually doesn't know about the restriction is going to find that out only after they broke the rule. Disambiguation link notification for July 23
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Supreme Court of Finland, links pointing to the disambiguation pages Finnish and Swedish were added. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

A barnstar for you!
[edit]| The Barnstar of Diplomacy | |
| Thanks for participating in this discussion and giving your thoughts about dealing with annoying LTA's. I'm of the "eventualism" philosophy on Wikipedia, as in, eventually we'll get everything figured out, whether it's rules, procedures, or dealing with trolls. I just know that seeing dumb LTA's (like one who can't even spell the word "you're") redoubles my effort toward editing, and showing appreciation to the other users who are trying to make it a better place. Cheers! ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 18:21, 6 August 2026 (UTC) |
- The pleasure is all mine. I was certainly not expecting a barnstar for visiting a talk page to discuss an idea which I have reservations about. Perhapse it is indeed sometimes the small things that really matter the most. Ideas have to start somewhere after all. I will cherish this barnstar and go make my 500th edit, this one being my 499th. to celebrate it. Thank you Finfixer (talk) 18:53, 6 August 2026 (UTC)
- LOL awesome! Congrats on the 500. And yea, this whole website is such a huge interconnected web, that I don't think it would function without good communication, open and honest discussion, and attention to small details. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 19:34, 6 August 2026 (UTC)

It appears that you have been canvassing—notifying a biased selection of users of an ongoing community discussion about Talk:Restore Britain#RfC on ethno-nationalism (ideology)—which may undermine Wikipedia's principle of consensus-building. While helpful notices are allowed, they should be limited, nonpartisan, and neutral. They should not be spammed, support one point of view or side of a debate, or be selectively sent to those who may agree with you. Thank you. TarnishedPathtalk 13:10, 7 August 2026 (UTC)
- This is a bit much. I have equally notified relevant projects (WikiProject Politics/Political parties and WikiProject Politics of the United Kingdom) and the wording of my notification to DeFacto repeated the policy points stated in the RfC opener to inform them of the basis for the RfC (which is important for whether an user is interested or not due to things like expertise).
- Furthermore, I do not know how DeFacto, who is the only user I remember manually notifying, would vote at all, because the discussion I refer to (Talk:Reform UK) is on a substancially different basis, that being whether an RfC should include an option to leave a blank parameter among other things unrelated to what the policy and factual concerns of the RfC I notified them of are. While they have also partaken in the previous RfC on the page, the RfC I notified of them is different in that it deals with a lack of sources instead of conflicting sources, thus I don't have any way to know how DeFacto would act. The only thing I know is that they are a recently active experienced editor in a relevant project. Finfixer (talk) 13:32, 7 August 2026 (UTC)
- Then why didn't you notify any other individual editors if you weren't notifying someone you thought would support your position? Keep pushing this and I will take it to a noticeboard. My only ask here is that you don't engage in this behaviour again. TarnishedPathtalk 13:40, 7 August 2026 (UTC)
- I would like to have a civil talk about this. I was under the understanding that there is no need to go around notifying multiple users if you wish to promote an RfC. In fact that seems to be something canvassing policy discourages, it asks for limited notifying. I chose DeFacto because I knew of their interest and that they had been active recently which means the notification would be likely to produce some result of unknown nature. I have no knowledge of recent activity of other users that have for example participated in previous RfC's on the page because I haven't seen them in any discussion. Any other users I may have notified, Sirfurboy and Glowstone, already left their comments on the RfC.
- I will not notify any other editors if you so wish, but I certainly think you accusing me of canvassing is premature. There simply isn't anything that would have led me to think I am doing something wrong in the manner I went about the notifying. Finfixer (talk) 13:48, 7 August 2026 (UTC)
- Look mate, try and spin it whatever way you like, just don't do it again and we'll be happy. TarnishedPathtalk 13:53, 7 August 2026 (UTC)

barnstar
[edit]
Thank you very much! :-) I actually didn't expect a barnstar only for my blabbering on talk pages,
but it's really nice to see that it's appreciated :-) --Friniate ✉ 23:20, 12 August 2026 (UTC)
