WordPress Origin Story

It was dumb luck that I ended up in WordPress. After over a year of job searching I came across a job post for a junior WordPress developer. I installed WordPress and took a quick PHP tutorial the day before my interview. I was open about my inexperience and very candid overall and somehow I still got the job! The timing couldn’t have been better as it was a remote job and I started just as the US started sheltering in place for COVID. Even more, when I was diagnosed with cancer about a month after I started my company was amazing about it, having both unlimited PTO and an awesome group of people to support me. The company has since been acquired and we have parted ways, but I will always be thankful for the opportunity WordPress gave me.
