The historical news concept on Czech Wikinews was and maybe it still is an attempt how to extend the Wikinews scale. The Wikinews with historical news were meant to be more then just a current affairs web, although this task should have remain the main goal of the Wikinews, but they should also serve as an archive of the news of the past. After two days I have to add: It did not go well. The story probably won't be published ever as a regular news story. Adding to the original Czech blog: I have later started the difficult procedure described later, so maybe the story will be published someday in the end... I was confronted with the complicated system of English Wikinews that I had already described. In practice, the system is even more complicated and more malfunctional as it looked like in theory and from the first sight. Waiting for the official review did not took several hours, like I thought, it took three days (and everyone probably knows what three days mean in news reporting). It is my sixth story on English Wikinews (in almost five years, which means I am not a regular contributor there). My experience with English Wikinews is however more and more unconvincing. English Wikinews obtained a status of media aggregated into Google News . It meant Wikinews had to start an official review system . Who writes a story, marks it with the review template and waits for an approval from the experienced author. The review comprises content, language and formal copyediting. The story is not published unless it has passed a successful review process. Of course, this is a good concept, although it does not fully correspond to the original standard of Wikipedia "what I edit, immediately occurs on wiki".
