Since January is traditionally a time for recovery, reflection on the past year, and setting goals and plans for the year ahead, I decided to skip the January theme. Instead, I took this time to contact the 2025 winners to discuss how we could best support them and how their prize money could be used in the most meaningful way.
Below is the final ranking and prize update:
1st place: Flandrensis – 7 points
2nd place: Dobirill – 4 points
3rd place: Mekniy-Lurk – 2 points
4th place: The Kingdom of Pontuni – 1 point
5th place: Serenia – 1 point
Flandrensis was awarded €50 for their first-place finish, in recognition of their participation in every monthly theme, their dedication, and the effort they consistently put into the community. As a long-established micronation, the Arch Duke chose to allocate the prize money to one of their ecological sanctuary initiatives: Civil Association Pumakawa Nature Reserve, located in Argentina.

Pumakawa consists of two properties: one 2-hectare site dedicated to a seed bank and animal rehabilitation, and a second 25-hectare property closed to the public, used for the release of rehabilitated animals and scientific research. For over 25 years, Pumakawa has focused on wildlife rehabilitation, particularly pumas, and environmental conservation. Their work includes rescuing and rehabilitating wild animals, maintaining a seed bank and producing native plants and trees, reforesting areas affected by wildfires, supporting national campaigns in Argentina to ban sport hunting and the import and export of hunting trophies (the “Blood Trophies” campaign), waste sorting and composting, promoting clean and renewable energy, and organizing environmental education programs for the general public and schools.
I will publish a blog post in the future once we receive photos of the animals that were helped with the prize money.
I am a member of the board of directors of the nature reserve organization where I volunteer as a nature conservator, and I cannot express how happy I am knowing that this money will directly help animals in need. From my personal experience, I know that nature organizations worldwide have seen a significant decline in donations and government grants over the past five years, following a peak during the global COVID-19 crisis.
After sharing this information with the Head of State of the third-place winner, Mekniy-Lurk, they immediately expressed their wish to donate their prize money to the same organization. As their nation is closely connected to and inspired by birds, this gesture truly moved me, almost to tears.
I have also been in contact with the second-place winner, Dobirill, though no decision has yet been made regarding their reward. More updates will follow.
