[edit]Hello Xaoflux,
I started Lingualibre.org/wiki/ imports to Commons but I also met technical challenges, which will be solved shortly. I would need one or two more month of importer right. See also :

Main page block
[edit]I don't understand why you blocked an IP address range (https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&logid=64305533) from editing a page they cannot edit anyway because it's fully protected - is there something I'm missing? Leaderboard (talk) 12:26, 3 February 2026 (UTC)
- The primary point of that was to block one of the other options, at one point the p-blocks were not working if it was "only options" added, not sure if that is actually resolved, as you noted that page block would not cause any extra collateral damage. — xaosflux Talk 14:24, 3 February 2026 (UTC)

Thanks for creating this, it has always kinda been something I have been looking for in previous years! Would it be worth making it like Stewards/Elections 2026/Statements but all votes are instead transcluded on a single page? Or would that just be too much? --Ferien (talk) 17:46, 6 February 2026 (UTC)
- I think that may cause some problems with all the JavaScript going on - just didn't want a redlink in the chain - but if you have good idea feel free to try them out. — xaosflux Talk 18:12, 6 February 2026 (UTC)
Hello, I've a question
[edit]Here's something I find concerning: the indefinitely blocked user HingWahStreet (hereafter "HWS") still has subpages (on Commons and elsewhere) that archive the userpage(s) of a different user that he helped to globally block, Shāntián Tàiláng (hereafter "ST").
HWS became a sockpuppeteer after he was blocked for blanking categories (which happened after ST's ban). ST had also been a sockpuppeteer, but when his ban happened, he had neither created nor used any sock accounts since 7 May 2023. (I think ST must have sworn off socks on 8 May 2023, since it seems he didn't create any new accounts after his ban either.)
Given that HWS was apparently a hypocrite for raising alarm about ST's behavior (along with the fact that several supporters of ST's global ban were neither native English speakers nor very familiar with ST himself or his exact behavior - rather like a telephone game), I wonder if you can put up a request for ST's global ban to be either undone or re-reviewed? Because from what I can figure out, ST did not simply harass users willy-nilly [as I believe most offenders do]. (And you may know of the "razor" phrase "Don't assume malice when you can safely assume stupidity". I've a feeling that people should have kept that in mind when analyzing ST's behavior.)
I do not condone anything that ST did, but I still think a global ban, especially one requested by a more recent sockpuppeteer, was not necessary for him, and possibly disproportionate. So as I said, can you possibly create a request to undo or re-review ST's global ban? Thanks for your time. ~2026-90435-2 (talk) 16:34, 10 February 2026 (UTC)
- To start an appeal of a global lock, the affected person can contact us at Special:Contact/Stewards. If a third party wants to, they can start a RFC. Those are the options. — xaosflux Talk 17:17, 10 February 2026 (UTC)

Information about the recent security incident
[edit]Hello, we are sending this message to inform you that your account was one of 97 registered Wikimedia accounts affected by malicious code as part of a recent security incident. This occurred only because you visited Meta-Wiki at a specific time.
This incident was caused by a malicious user script "worm" that was unintentionally activated during a security review by the Wikimedia Foundation staff. The worm modified MediaWiki:Common.js, causing Meta-Wiki visitors to edit or delete various pages during the approximately 23 minutes that this worm was operational.
We have analyzed the malicious user script and reviewed our internal and public logs. We have found no evidence that your account credentials were compromised, or that your account was used to conduct any other actions on Wikimedia projects besides editing or deleting random pages. We have no reason to believe that Wikipedia was under attack, or that any information about your account was breached as part of this incident.
All edits caused by the script have been reverted, and the deleted pages have been restored.
We apologize for any disruption this incident caused you, and are working to prevent this kind of incident from happening again. You can learn more about that security work, and further details about this incident, on our project page.
Regards, on behalf of the Wikimedia Foundation Product Safety and Integrity team, SGrabarczuk (WMF) (talk) 17:18, 26 March 2026 (UTC)

You may be an eligible candidate for the U4C election
[edit]Greetings,
The Universal Code of Conduct Coordinating Committee (U4C) seeks candidates for the 2026 election. The U4C is the global committee responsible for overseeing enforcement of the Universal Code of Conduct. Elections are held annually, if elected a committee member serves for two years.
This year the U4C requires candidates to hold administrator rights on at least one wiki, which is why you are being contacted as you appear to hold this right. There are other requirements, such as candidates must be at least 18 years old and may not be employed by the Wikimedia Foundation or other related chapters and affiliates. You can find more information in the call for candidates on Meta-wiki. Additionally, the committee's working language is English; some ability to communicate in English is required.
The election opens on 18 May, if you are eligible and interested you have until 10 May to submit your candidacy. There will be a week in between for candidates to answer questions from the community. Voting takes place privately in SecurePoll, successful candidates must receive at least 60% support. More information is available on the 2026 Elections page, including timelines and other candidacy information. If you read over the material and consider yourself qualified, please consider submitting your name to run for the committee. If you think someone else in your community might be interested and qualified, please encourage them to run.
