May is officially recognized as Mental Health Awareness Month, a time dedicated to shining a light on mental well-being, fostering open conversations, and breaking the stigma that still surrounds mental health conditions. Since its founding in 1949 by Mental Health America, this vital national movement has grown to advocate for better care and support.
The New York Public Library and the Random House Publishing Group today announce the creation of the Kate Medina Fellowship for Literary Narrative Nonfiction to support writers whose projects engage with the world-class collections of the Library’s flagship Stephen A. Schwarzman Building.
Each year, the James Beard Media Awards® celebrate the very best in food storytelling. The Book Awards honor cookbooks and other nonfiction food and beverage titles. We’re thrilled to share that sixteen Penguin Random House titles have been nominated!
This year’s Media Awards Ceremony will mark a first for the awards, with winners to be announced at the renowned Art Institute of Chicago. At the ECPA Awards Celebration in Chicago on April 28, Penguin Random House Christian Publishing Group won in two categories at the Christian Book Awards.
Presented annually to the finest in Christian publishing since 1978, the Christian Book Award program honors the "best of the year" in 12 categories. Five finalists are chosen in each category unless there is a tie. The Winner in each category is announced and awarded at the ECPA Awards Celebration held at the industry's Leadership Summit each Spring. The program recognizes the highest quality in Christian books and Bibles and is among the oldest and most prestigious awards program in the religious publishing industry.
The evening also included a celebratory milestone for WaterBrook’s 30th anniversary. The program featured a video highlighting the formation of WaterBrook and the impact its books have had over the past three decades.

Penguin Random House and We Need Diverse Books (WNDB) have announced the winners of the fourth cycle of the Revisions Workshop, part of WNDB’s Black Creatives Fund. Following the October announcement of the newly discovered Dr. Seuss manuscript SING THE 50 UNITED STATES!(on sale June 2, 2026), Random House Children’s Books (RHCB) announced on March 13 that it will increase the book’s first printing from 500,000 to 1 million copies in response to soaring demand. The book will be published in hardcover and as an ebook, and in audio by Penguin Random House with Michael Beck returning to narrate. An announced first printing of 1,500,000 copies has been set, and Hodder and Stoughton will publish simultaneously in the UK.
News from the Random House Publishing Group: Bantam will publish EXILES, the first in the new thriller series from SAG and Golden Globe winner and Emmy nominated actor, director, and musician Idris Elba and Sunday Times and international bestselling author and screenwriter Adam Hamdy, in May of 2027.
Welcome Women’s History Month! Did you know that Women’s History Month began in Sonoma, California, in 1978 as a weeklong celebration of women’s contributions: Hundreds of students participated in a “Real Woman” essay contest. In 1987, the National Women’s History Project successfully petitioned Congress to expand the event to the entire month of March. On March 8th we also celebrate International Women’s Day.

The Los Angeles Times announced the finalists and honorees for its 46th Annual Book Prizes, recognizing outstanding literary achievement across 13 categories and celebrating the highest quality of writing from authors at every stage of their careers.
This year, PRH author Amy Tan will receive the Robert Kirsch Award for lifetime achievement, and our partner We Need Diverse Books will be honored with the Innovator’s Award. PRH author Adam Ross will also be recognized with the Christopher Isherwood Prize for Autobiographical Prose.

The press will receive $10,000. CavanKerry Press was selected as a finalist, located in Fort Lee, New Jersey. Penguin Random House Publisher Services (PRHPS) announced on February 3 a multi-year worldwide sales and distribution agreement with Oni Press, the Eisner and Harvey Award-winning publisher of groundbreaking comic books and graphic novels.
Under the agreement, beginning on August 1, 2026, PRHPS will sell and distribute Oni Press’ frontlist and backlist trade books, as well as single issue comics, for Oni Press and the company’s Magnetic Press imprint exclusively across all sales channels worldwide.
