Bot posting promotion notice on wrong user's page

[edit]

Hey, the bot closed Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/Electoral history of Al Gore/archive1 today, which was nominated by Olliefant, but posted the closing notice on Generalissima's talk page instead for some reason, who had no connection besides being one of the reviewers. Not sure why, though I note that both that and List of Batwoman episodes were closed in the same run and bother were by Olliefant, and that the bot also removed the Batwoman list from FLC in the same edit that it removed a different list? So maybe something about 1 nominator having 2 closed nominations confused things. --PresN 01:18, 23 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

It is all about Olliefant using a talk page instead of a user page as her nomination signature. The Bot therefore could not see it and reported an error. I corrected the signature in Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of Batwoman episodes/archive1 but in Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/Electoral history of Al Gore/archive1 the Bot kept looking and found Generalissima's signature, which looked like the nomination signature as it was enclosed in <small> tags. I will teach the Bot how to deal with Olliefant. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 02:33, 23 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! --PresN 03:23, 23 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

I'm starting to take this personal...

[edit]

User:FACBot has neglected to archive both Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/Swiss Figure Skating Championships/archive1 from January 16th and Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/Soviet Figure Skating Championships/archive1 from today. Did I run over somebody's dog or something? Bgsu98 (Talk) 23:45, 19 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

It's not you; it is this person. They created a nomination but never completed it. The FACBot stopped processing nominations at this point and waited for the nominator or coordinator to resolve the issue. I had already instructed the FACBot on how to handle (i.e ignore) this, but had not moved the new version to the Toolforge. I have given the new version a run and it has processed the approved nominations. I've also remove the incomplete nomination template so processing will proceed as normal pending the update. Thank you! Also, super cute dog! 🥰 Bgsu98 (Talk) 01:59, 20 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

The bot keeps adding duplicate entries to the the WP:GO page, like [1], 2 or 3. Could you do something about it? Regards, Armbrust The Homunculus 09:56, 20 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Caused by the coordinator adding to the page instead of letting the Bot do it. Added instructions to the next release to not add the link if it is already there. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 02:28, 21 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Japan Cup?

[edit]

Could you take a look at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Japan Cup/archive1? In this edit, FACBot deleted a bunch of text that it shouldn't have. RoySmith (talk) 12:37, 21 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Prefix bug

[edit]

When removing articles from the Good Article lists because they're now a FA, the bot also removed other articles that start with the same title. For example it removed "Black holes in fiction" in Special:Diff/1352635947 when intending to remove "Black hole". * Pppery * it has begun... 05:53, 14 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Oh. Will fix this. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 08:24, 14 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
