Why do so many S/4HANA migrations fall short of expectations? According to a recent study led by Horváth, many challenges are rooted in the setup phase of the program: - Complexity and resource needs are underestimated - Organizational competence is overestimated - Prioritization is unclear, with too many goals treated as equally urgent This mismatch explains the gap we often see between plans and results. The study echoes what many CIOs and program leaders experience: prioritization, project management discipline, and capability building are often bigger hurdles than the technology itself.
