Delisting
Webosaurs is widely reported online to have shut down in 2012 but based on one blog post by Pandanda Blogger from June 28th, 2013 it appears to have happened much closer to that date. Additionally, the last archived blog post at Webosaurs.com was on May 10th, 2013. By July 12th, 2013 the game’s blog.webosaurs.com subdomain appears to have gone offline while the main webosaurs.com URL was down by July 21st. The game’s social media accounts went dormant in 2011 (Facebook) and 2012 (Twitter).
As suggested by reddit user Amazing_Actuary_8702 in a thread from 2024, the game was potentially suffering from a dwindling player count while the 2011 ‘Rise of Spike’ update, which brought a new nemesis and content to the game, felt “rushed”.
A change.org petition was started in June of 2021 to raise awareness and inform Reel FX Entertainment of the persistent interest in the game. In August of 2024 a new post was added revealing that a publicly playable version of Dino Surf, the iOS 3.0 Webosaurs spin-off app, had been preserved. Many Webosaurs fans have since gathered on the Revive Great Lost Media Discord server.
About the Game
Welcome to Webosaurs™. Webosaurs is the brave, new online world WHERE KIDS RULE THE EARTH™. At Webosaurs.com, kids 5-10 can discover, explore and evolve while experiencing an adventure unlike anything else online. The site features customizable, 3D dinosaur avatars; safe social networking; action-packed gaming in an evolving, prehistoric environment; and educational “Webosodes” from international wildlife expert Nigel Marven.
Webosaurs brings kids around the globe the story of a unique group of dinosaurs – the lone survivors of the mass extinction that everyone believed ended dinosaur life on earth. For millions of years, (65 million to be exact), this world and its dino residents remained undiscovered. This spring, kids will have the power to unlock the secrets of the amazing Webosaurs Island and begin their adventures.
Webosaurs is free-to-play with access to premium content available through subscriptions and a micro-transaction system. In order to keep all players safe, Webosaurs employs highly experienced, trained on-site staff to monitor activity and chat. The staff can also receive behavior reports from players in real time.
Webosaurs is also focused on delivering only the best in content to its community. With resources dedicated solely to content creation, Webosaurs.com will evolve with frequent updates, keeping the world, games and adventures fresh. These activities give kids the opportunity to earn “coins” that can be used to customize their avatars and home “cave”.
Webosaurs.com seeks to promote environmental awareness and education by implementing various in-world campaigns which encourage kids to support eco-friendly causes. Members will be able to choose from a list of various pre-selected organizations and donate their “coins” which will ultimately result in real world contributions to environmental causes. With that mission in mind, Webosaurs has teamed up with Nigel Marven, international wildlife expert and star of BBC’s Prehistoric Park and Walking with Dinosaurs. Kids can enjoy Marven’s exclusive Webosodes and play games and quizzes throughout the world. Nigel will also hit the road this summer on a national promotional tour of leading zoos, museums and aquariums. Look for Nigel and Webosaurs coming to a zoo near you!
Thanks for visiting Webosaurs.com! We hope you come back often to see what’s new in our world.
