"When I get on a bike I'm 20 years younger." He's done it. Cycling UK member Peter Langford, aged 90, has become the oldest person to cycle the length of Britain, riding over 1,000 miles from Land's End to John o'Groats. What a remarkable achievement. Huge congratulations! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’™

At Cycling UK we don't think it's OK for a Sunday broadsheet to publish an article saying it's "tempting" to put up a piano wire to catch families of cyclists. We've now submitted a formal complaint, and if you agree with us you can do so too.

Fake news is spreading. ๐Ÿ—ž๏ธ The new Highway Code rules do not advise cyclists to ride in the middle of the road, nor do they say that drivers will be fined ยฃ1000 for opening their car door with the wrong hand. Share this post to help us set the record straight. โฌ‡๏ธ

Don't hug the kerb. Some cyclists worry that being further out may put them in the way of the traffic. But it won't: you are the traffic. Watch our video guide to learn the road positioning basics: ow.ly/GSXe50Npcbl

Transport Secretary, Grant Shapps has told the Mail that cyclists should have number plates, be insured and subject to speed limits. These latest proposals are impractical and unworkable. We need this government to encourage people to cycle more, not less. Read our statement. โฌ‡๏ธ

Don't hug the kerb. Cyclists may sometimes choose to ride in the centre of a lane. Not to deliberately slow drivers, but to increase visibility and ensure cars can only overtake when safe to pass. ๐Ÿ“ธ: @davewalker

Don't pass too close for comfort. If you're out driving this weekend, please be patient around cyclists and leave at least a car's width when overtaking. Close passes are intimidating and dangerous. ๐Ÿ“ธ: @davewalker
Cartoon which illustrates the importance of passing cyclists carefully. Other examples of highlighting the need for distance are included - personal space, behind the yellow line at a station, staying back when someone is entering card details, car overtaking cyclist.

And he's done it! Cycling UK member Russ Mantle has cycled ONE MILLION MILES ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ‘ย  He's been riding an average of 14,700 miles every year for the past 68 years. The average driver will likely drive less than half that distance in their whole lifetime. #cyclist #bikelife

Did you know that over 1/2 of adults say that drivers overtaking too closely puts them off cycling in the UK? We want everyone to experience the joy of life on the bike. If you're out driving this weekend, please don't pass #TooCloseForComfort. RT to spread the word.

The hit-and-run driver who knocked down Cycling UK member Alan Myles has not been prosecuted - despite clear video footage and two witnesses. @PoliceScotland and @scotgov must do more. We are calling for urgent launch of a video evidence reporting tool: ow.ly/kxPH50N9JuH

With fuel prices going up, it's worth remembering that we don't have to drive everywhere. 68% of UK trips are under five miles - distances many of us could cycle. It's time for politicians to deliver the safe infrastructure needed to #GetThereWithCycling: cyclinguk.org/elections-2022

It's #OperationClosePass Day in England. Is your police force taking part? We are appealing to all drivers to follow the guidance in the Highway Code and give plenty of space when overtaking people cycling: ow.ly/ApfS50NLqEA
