Next time anyone talks about arming teachers, remember that today a guy waltzed into downtown Highland Park, shot more than 30 people, and then waltzed out. An entire armed police all around couldn't stop him. Heck, they still can't even find him.

I'm sorry Molly, I just can't wrap my head around responding to anything Ann Coulter says. She's a carnival freak biting the heads off chickens, rhetorically. If she isn't beneath contempt and unworthy of notice, no one is. But that might be delicacy on my part.

"A man of Trump's social and financial status"?! I guess he doesn't realize that, to normal people, he's pond scum.

I too am sending out thoughts and prayers: thoughts that Congress is a bunch of cowards, and prayers that we'll finally throw the bums out of office and elect representatives with the guts to enact the sane gun laws most citizens in our country are begging to see put in place.

I'm not bothering to read Wolff's book -- you can get a contact high just from reading the tidbits on Facebook -- but it is fun to see Trump supporters do a skiddering 180 degree turn and suddenly pretend to care about what's true or not. That's so cute.

Dear 800,000 unpaid Federal workers: You have to understand, failing to pay people working for him, and then ignoring the suffering this causes, has been a Trump trademark for decades. Who can be surprised now? Don't blame him; none of this was hidden. Blame his supporters.

Chicago is quite proud. We negate New York and sneer at St. Louis. But I've never met anyone who dislikes Milwaukee. Nearby, with cheap sports tickets, a decent art museum and a great German restaurant, Mader's. Trump is a proven idiot, but mocking Milwaukee may be his downfall.

Those blaming the Ricketts for gutting the Cubs should bear this in mind: they also promote the undermining of every cherished American value through their financial support of Donald Trump.

Gene & Georgetti at 12 noon Monday. C’mon Chicago, get your asses in here. The food’s still fantastic.

Jay Mariotti quit in a huff, was shocked when his resignation was joyously accepted, and begged for his job back, on his knees. For the record. The fact that he's still on about it tells something, because we never think of Jay Mariotti at all unless somebody brings him up.
For the record ... the Chicago Sun-Times has published 3,644 consecutive days since Jay Mariotti left the paper in 2008 — 10 years ago next week. Or as my colleague @NeilSteinberg puts it, "every goddamn day."

An army of atheists working 24 hours a day couldn't undermine the whole notion of Evangelical Christianity as a moral code better than they're doing themselves, between Donald Trump and Roy Moore. They do have a religion, right? It isn't all a scam to oppress folks? Or is it?
Ignore for a moment the fact Roy Moore did it. Republicans are literally defending child molestation—saying things like “even if it’s true” & citing the Bible to justify it. I’ll never let voters forget this.

I watched the rally, but missed the part at the end where they open the Ark of the Covenant.

Michelle Obama burned Donald Trump to a heap of ashes and then her husband Barack came out and pissed on them.

If Trump supporters feel bad about losing "Roseanne" imagine how they'll feel about losing Congress. And the presidency. And history. Not to mention burning in the fiery furnace of hell for all eternity. It's straight downhill from here, kiddos, so get used to it. #GOPtears
