- 🧵 I am so proud to be named Chair of the Committee on Aging! For so many of us, this work is deeply personal. My journey into public service started when I became the caregiver for my mother, who lived with #Alzheimers disease until her passing last April.
- My office just learned about the removal of the Willoughby Ave Open Street. We are reaching out to the @NYCMayorsOffice and @NYC_DOT to learn more about what happened and how we can remedy the situation.
- Stalling the implementation of congestion pricing is a mistake—one that defers a promise to fund necessary upgrades to vital public infrastructure and imperils our ability to meet our climate resiliency goals. We’ve worked hard to reach this moment. We shouldn’t throw it away.
- As a member of the NYC Council’s LGBTQ Caucus, I am disappointed with a number of @NYCMayor’s appointments. New Yorkers went to the polls in Nov to elect a government among the most diverse in history. The people have spoken: inclusion, dignity, & justice are clear shared values.
- Today, I was proud to have @NYCMayor sign my first bill into law, which will ensure that birthing folks have access to information about doula care. For Black women, that’s life-saving information. And we know that when Black folks thrive, everyone thrives.
- I stopped by Willoughby #OpenStreets this morning & saw lots of folks walking/running/biking & so many kids heading to school safely. Also spoke with local crossing guard, Ms. Reyes, who told me how the barricades help keep kids safe. So glad to see Willoughby back in action!
