Wilson Chapman

    Wilson Chapman is Curation Editor for IndieWire. In his role, he leads the site’s evergreen content team, serving as a coordinator for best-of-lists, explainers, guides, and more. He first joined IndieWire in October 2022 as a news writer, before becoming a staff writer in April 2023.

    Prior to his professional career, Wilson attended Northwestern University from 2017 to 2020, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and Political Science from the Medill School of Journalism. In college, he worked at the school’s newspaper, The Daily Northwestern, where he served as web editor, arts and entertainment editor, features editor, and the editor of the paper’s monthly magazine. During his academic career, he interned at U.S. News and World Report and Discover Magazine.

    In 2022, Wilson joined Variety Magazine as an intern for six months; following his internship, he worked for an additional three months in a temporary position on the publication’s film team. Over the course of his time at Variety, he wrote over 700 stories for the publication, including breaking news and features, covered multiple red carpets for film and TV premieres, and several attended industry events.

    At IndieWire, some of Wilson’s specialties include writing about anime, independent cinema, and LGBTQ entertainment for the site. His favorite list to update is the ever-reliable Best Rom-Coms Streaming on Netflixmonthly guide. Outside of his curation editor duties, Wilson also writes film reviews and analysis pieces for the site. Wilson’s favorite films include “Mulholland Drive” and the entire David Lynch oeuvre, Martin Scorsese’s “The Age of Innocence,” and “Cleo From 5 to 7” by Agnes Varda. His favorite TV shows include “The Simpsons,” “Twin Peaks,” and “Mad Men.”
