Oh-oh Oreo – Happy Birthday … Oreo Cookie Turns 100 Years Old
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE OREO COOKIE …
Today the Oreo cookie turns 100 years old. Talk about withstanding the test of time. The first Oreo cookie, called the Oreo biscuit, was sold in Hoboken, New Jersey in 1912. The Oreo is the top selling cookie of the 21st Century. Admit it, you twist them open and eat the cream filling before you eat the cookie.
The Oreo Cookie has proved it can withstand the test of time.
The chocolate cookie with cream in the middle has been around since 1912.
Today, Kraft Foods is celebrating the Oreo’s 100th birthday in grand fashion—hosting more than 100 “birthday parties” across a dozen countries, plus games on their website, and you can even buy a package of limited edition “Birthday Cake Oreos” to celebrate the occasion. For $4 on the company’s website, you can also send a friend a coupon for a free package of Oreos.

Leftist Activist Contraception Queen Sandra Fluke Wants Gender Reassignment to be Paid for by Health Insurance
The slippery liberal slope from contraception to gender reassignment … Its all just one huge LEFTIST AGENDA.
Sorry, the Sandra Fluke “contraception” controversy was a set up from the outset … Nothing that the LEFT ever does is because it just happens. It is always contrived and “AstroTurfed”. Check out “Sandra Fluke, Gender Reassignment, and Health Insurance” from The College Politico. The heck with contraceptives being covered by insurance, this Fluke wants gender reassignment to be covered by health insurance as well. But as Patterico Pontifications states, all this will be ignored by the MSM, they are too busy attacking Rush.
Sandra Fluke is being sold by the left as something she’s not. Namely a random co-ed from Georgetown law who found herself mixed up in the latest front of the culture war who was simply looking to make sure needy women had access to birth control. That, of course, is not the case.
As many have already uncovered Sandra Fluke she is, in reality, a 30 year old long time liberal activist who enrolled at Georgetown with the express purpose of fighting for the school to pay for students’ birth control. She has been pushing for mandated coverage of contraceptives at Georgetown for at least three years according to the Washington Post.
However, as I discovered today, birth control is not all that Ms. Fluke believes private health insurance must cover. She also, apparently, believes that it is discrimination deserving of legal action if “gender reassignment” surgeries are not covered by employer provided health insurance. She makes these views clear in an article she co-edited with Karen Hu in the Georgetown Journal of Gender and the Law.
How typical of the LEFT … anyone who does not cover something as outlandish as a sex change is being discriminatory.
From the College Politico, here is an excerpt of Employment Discrimination Against LGBTQ Persons appearing in the Georgetown Journal of Gender and the Law’s Annual Review 2001:
Discrimination typically takes two forms: first, direct discrimination limiting access to benefits specifically needed by LGBTQ persons, and secondly, the unavailability of family-related benefits to LGBTQ families.
Their “prime example” of the first form of discrimination? Not covering sex change operations:
A prime example of direct discrimination is denying insurance coverage for medical needs of transgender persons physically transitioning to the other gender.

Litigious Nation: Movie Goer Joshua Thompson Sues AMC Livonia theater for High Price of Popcorn
GOOD GRIEF … Movie goer Joshua Thompson sues the AMC Livonia theater not because he was injured on the premises or because he paid for a ticket and was not provided a product. Oh no, instead in this ridiculous sue happy world, Thompson sued because of the high price of popcorn, Goobers and soda. Thompson filed a class action law suit in Michigan claiming price gouging. Of course it is only a matter of time before these nuisance suits pop up in other states. Thompson claims he filed the suit because he was tired of being taken advantage of. Huh? Who know that there was an individual mandate to buy popcorn at the movies? At least not yet. This case will be dismissed as there are no damages.
Joshua Thompson loves the movies.
But he hates the prices theaters charge for concessions like pop and candy.
This week, the 20-something security technician from Livonia decided to do something about it: He filed a class action in Wayne County Circuit Court against his local AMC theater in hopes of forcing theaters statewide to dial down snack prices.
“He got tired of being taken advantage of,” said Thompson’s lawyer, Kerry Morgan of Wyandotte. “It’s hard to justify prices that are three- and four-times higher than anywhere else.”
Anyone who would pay $11 for popcorn and soda or $8 for Goobers and a soda needs to have their head examined. However, no one is forcing you to buy it. Don’t get me wrong, for years, even when I was a kid the cost of concessions in the movie theaters were always higher than a store, but there is this thing called … you do not have to buy it. Granted many establishments prevent patrons from bringing in their own candy, popcorn, alcohol etc … like that has ever stopped anyone. Just saying.
Best and Worst States for Retirement 2011: Complete List
According to MoneyRates.com the following are the TOP 10 Best and Worst States for retirement. Based on reader responses, economics determined 47% of a state’s final score, climate accounted for 33%, life expectancy determined 12% and crime accounted for 8%. Honestly, I would have thought health care access, weighted property taxes, cultural attractions and death taxes. One might have also thought they would have considered shuffleboard, bingo and gambling accessibility … Just kidding.
TOP 10 WORST STATES FOR RETIREMENT
What do the Top 4 worst states have in common other than they are all “blue states”? Maine, Michigan, Massachusetts and Connecticut all have out of control tax burdens. Alaska is the only “red” state in the top 10 worst places to retire. Cost of living ans its climate are the culprits.
10. Wisconsin
9. New York
8. Washington
7. Rhode Island
6. Maryland
5. Alaska
4. Connecticut
3. Massachusetts
2. Michigan
1. MaineWhy it’s the worst state for retirement: Maine’s low ranking was a result of having bottom-five scores in the two most heavily weighted categories, economics and climate.
Economic factors: Maine got the fifth-lowest score for economics, with its high cost of living and tax burden as the primary culprits.
Climate: Maine’s climate ranked third-worst in the nation.
Life expectancy: At 77.6 years, Maine’s life expectancy is about average.
Crime: If personal security is a high priority, you may want to reconsider Maine. Its violent crime rate is the lowest in the nation, and its property crime rate is below average as well.
TOP 10 BEST STATES FOR RETIREMENT
Who would have thought that Florida would not have been in the Top 10 retirement Florida (30), Arizona (25) and Colorado (27) would not have been in the Top 10 best places to retire. However, we can see that there are only one real “blue” state in the list of best places to retire. That can hardly be a coincidence.
10. Kansas
9. Tennessee
8. South Dakota
7. Mississippi
6. Virginia
5. Louisiana
4. Iowa
3. Oklahoma
2. Kentucky
1. TexasWhy it’s the best state for retirement: Despite a high property crime rate, Texas outranked all other states with its outstanding scores for economic factors and climate.
Economic factors: Texas scored very well for economics, thanks to a low cost of living and low tax burden.
Climate: The climate for such a big state varies, but overall Texas received strong scores for its generally warm climate.
Life expectancy: At 76.7 years, life expectancy for Texans is a little below median.
Crime: The only real blemish for Texas, the high crime rate–especially the nation’s highest rate of property crime–might scare off some retirees.

GOP Presidential Primary: Santorum Leads Romney 34% to 30% in Tennessee Ahead of Super Tuesday
Could Romney actually win in the South and the Volunteer state?
There is one day to go before Super Tuesday and the primary in Tennessee appears to be a two horse race and too close to call. According to the most recent Rasmussen poll, Rick Santorum leads Mitt Romney 34% to 30% with Gingrich and Paul a distant third and fourth. This is rather startling considering the overwhelming number of evangelicals in the Volunteer state.
Just two days before Super Tuesday, the Republican primary race in Tennessee has become a two-man competition between Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum. The first Rasmussen Reports survey of Likely GOP Primary Voters in Tennessee shows Santorum attracting 34% of the vote, while Romney earns 30%. Polls from other firms have previously shown Santorum with a large lead in the state.
If Romney wins Tennessee, it would be considered a huge upset and just further show the Romney momentum. What is also quite eye opening is that Newt Gingrich is not doing better considering his home state is border state Georgia.

Newt Gingrich Blasts NBC’s David Gregory & the MSM … Rush Limbaugh was “The Great National Crisis of This Past Week”
Bias is the MSM, “You Betcha” …
On Sunday Morning on NBC’s “Meet the Press” with David Gregory, GOP Presidential primary candidate Newt Gingrich blasted Gregory and exposed the MSM for what they truly are … bias and in the tank for Barack Obama. Millions of Americans are out of work, gas prices are through the roof, food stamps recipients are at record highs, the federal debt is at $15.4 trillion and climbing, Obama is apologizing for the burning of a Koran while American troops are being killed; however, the MSM makes the discussion about Rush Limbaugh. The MSM will do anything to deflect the terrible situation that is going on under Barack Obama in order to reelect their candidate.
“You know, David, I am astonished at the desperation of the elite media to avoid rising gas prices, to avoid the President’s apology to religious fanatics in Afghanistan, to avoid a trillion dollar deficit, to avoid the longest period of unemployment since the Great Depression, and to suddenly decide that Rush Limbaugh is the great national crisis of this week”
A transcript of the exchange between Gingrich and Gregory can be seen at NewsBusters:
“Barack Obama as President,” Gingrich continued, “in the most radical anti-religious move made by any president, is trying to coerce the Catholic Church at a time when he’s been told by the bishops they would have to give up every single hospital…they would have to give up every single university and college associated with the church, because he is asking them to violate their religious beliefs.”
Gregory continued to press the issue saying, “Do you think it was harmful that Limbaugh, as certainly an influential voice in a conservative grassroots and you well know that, was it appropriate for him to apologize? Do you think that he’s done damage to the debate that you’re now getting into?”
After saying it was appropriate for Limbaugh to apologize, Gingrich challenged Gregory asking, “Do you think the President owes an apology to all the men and women in uniform who he frankly abandoned when he apologized to religious fanatics in Afghanistan? What’s your opinion, David?”
Newt reminded David Gregory that no one is blocking access to contraception. Barack Obama stepped into a mess when he brought up this policy of forcing religious organizations to cover contraceptive and now the media will stop at nothing to change the narrative.
If Newt does not make it as the GOP Presidential nominee, who would not love to see him as White House Press Secretary? Every press conference would be must see TV.

GOP Presidential Primary: Reuters/Ipsos Poll Has Romney and Santorum Tied in Ohio
More good polling news for Mitt Romney … All of the momentum appears to be with Mitt Romney heading into Super Tuesday. A Reuters/Ipsos poll released Sunday has Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney tied with 32% support from likely voters in the Ohio.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has surged into a dead heat with Rick Santorum in the Ohio primary, setting up a cliffhanger race on Tuesday, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Sunday.
The former Massachusetts governor and former senator from Pennsylvania are tied with 32 percent support from likely voters in the Ohio Republican primary, the most important of the 10 state nominating contests on “Super Tuesday” this week.
The all important Ohio contest will either be the tipping point for Romney in the GOP Presidential primaries if he is victorious, or if Santorum claims victory will be the equivalent of a political Ground Hog Day and six more weeks of primaries. However, all of the polls show that the momentum is with Romney as recent Marist/NBC News poll and Rasmussen poll both show significant gains for Romney.
All eyes will be on Ohio Tuesday evening.
