Restoring America's Growth

BERJAYAThe US is losing this competition, which has serious consequences for future innovation and living standards According to David Maalpass writing for Forbes.

Investors expect to invest in a government that can and will control spending.  Where living standards and after tax profits are on the rise.  To accomplish this we must cut federal spending and extend the Bush tax cuts.  The US has the second highest corporate tax in the world and it must be addressed. The Obama administration must take a serious look at small business credit and pension reform.

The hallmark of sound government is sound money.  When citizens cannot trust their money chaos ensues.

DNC: Just Another Union

BERJAYAMs. Pelosi is having trouble keeping the troops in line. She has granted candidates permission to say or do what they need to about her to survive.  Mr. Bright, a conservative democrat, praised Ms. Pelosi and the leadership for allowing him to vote against the stimulus and health-care laws quoting something about a big tent.

If you think "one man one vote" think again.  The Democrat party sounds more like just another union and Ms. Pelosi is Boss Hog.  Listening the the Republicans fret over Christine O'Donnell last week reminds me of the same.

If there is a particular canidate you are following and are jazzed about, give directly to their campaign.  You will feel more involved and they will benifit as a result.

How Obama Thinks

BERJAYA"But instead of readying us for the challenge, our President is trapped in his father's time machine. Incredibly, the U.S. is being ruled according to the dreams of a Luo tribesman of the 1950s. This philandering, inebriated African socialist, who raged against the world for denying him the realization of his anticolonial ambitions, is now setting the nation's agenda through the reincarnation of his dreams in his son. The son makes it happen, but he candidly admits he is only living out his father's dream. The invisible father provides the inspiration, and the son dutifully gets the job done. America today is governed by a ghost."  Dinesh D'Souza - Forbes - Read Full Article

Lenin's Lesson

BERJAYA Obama may decide to go ahead at the last minute with lots of drama and extend  the Bush Tax cuts if  it would genuinely help his reelection prospects According to Steve Forbes.  Push taxing the rich down the road a couple of years might work in his long range plans. It would make him look good and give the democrats a chance this November.

The president might feel confidant that a large part of his agenda, healthcare and the broad expansion of the federal government, is enough for the moment.  He has opened the door for unions and has virtually taken over higher education via the student loan confiscation. Obama and the decisions made by the democrats over the past six years have brought business to a standstill.

Like Lenin, why not take a tactical pause and come back later and punish the "millionaires and billionaires"

Striking Facts About Unions

BERJAYAMuch is made about how the United States trails the rest of the industrialized world in just about every comparison. Thankfully, however, we are not at the top of this list. According to The Economist our polite friends to the north lost 2.2M work days to strikes last year alone.

That seems awfully rude, even by our standards.

'Green' jobs no longer golden in stimulus

BERJAYA Absent from President Obama's latest economic-stimulus package are any further attempts to create jobs through "green" energy projects. The President's plans for going green this  past year have turned out to be a non-event.

After months of hype about the potential for green energy to stimulate job growth and lead the economy out of a recession, the results turned out to be dismal. About $92 billion - more than 11 percent - of Mr. Obama's original $814 billion of stimulus funds were targeted for renewable energy projects when the measure was pushed through Congress in early 2009.  Only about $20 billion of the allotted funds have been spent and analysts are skeptical of White House estimates that the  funding created 190,700 jobs. Quite the contary, jobs were created in Europe.

Bashing Bush and Boehner Won’t Work

BERJAYAIn Friday’s dreary news conference, Obama acknowledged that economic progress is “painfully slow,” and that voters may blame him for the economy.

“Millionaires and billionaires” has become Obama’s favorite phrase as he calls for tax hikes on the wealthy and renews his attacks on Bush. In Cleveland last week, Obama actually blamed the Bush tax cuts for the financial meltdown and severe recession. Now that’s a reach. A big reach.  Larry Kudlow - Read Full Article

The Outlook Dims for Democrats

BERJAYAIt's not too early to assess the damage done by America's 44th president. He squandered his mandate and the public's enormous good will. He alienated voters and dropped a heavy yoke on his party with useless spending and a shockingly unpopular health-care bill. With pressure mounting and a potentially epic loss looming, Mr. Obama has gone from a commanding, engaging candidate to an arrogant, self-pitying president. It is not pretty to witness.  Karl Rove - Read Full Article

The German Economic Miracle; Looking Back

BERJAYAIn 1948 West Germany was rife with bureaucratic controls, rationing and the black-market.  Ludwig Erhard, director of economic administration, removed price controls, wage controls, allocation edicts and rationing directives." The West Geman economy surged by 50%. It was called the Wirtschaftswunder or economic miracle.  East Germany, on the other hand, suffered under soviet domination. West Germany went on to out produce France and the UK by the annual rate of 8%.

History is a great teacher.

Cops, and Robbers

BERJAYAAccording to the Bureau of Economic Analysis, state and local employees earn, hour for hour, 34 percent more in wages than do workers in the private sector, and enjoy far more generous health-insurance, sick-leave, and pension benefits.  In the City of Oakland the average annual salary for a family is $47,000.  The compensition of a police officer is $162,000.

Everywhere, cash-strapped city councils and legislatures in the second year of post-crisis America are struggling to bring outlays in line with a shrunken and stagnant revenue base after decades of metastasizing growth in public-sector labor costs.

And the fuzz aren’t taking it lying down. In Akron, Fraternal Order of Police local president Paul Hlynsky has engaged in a public war of words with mayor Don Plusquellic, accusing him of lying and negotiating in bad faith. In a move to rival that of the Bay City police union, Oakland police chief Anthony Batts responded to the layoffs by ticking off a list of 44 situations to which his reduced force would no longer be able to respond — and it wasn’t just cats up trees and noise-ordinance violations. The list included felonies like burglary and grand theft, extortion and fraud.  NRO - Read Full Article
