It won’t be the first time but Martha Coakley smeared Scott Brown tonight outside of her big Washington DC lobbyist fundraiser.
Griff Jenkins from FOX News interviewed Coakley outside of her big DC lobbyist fundraiser:

Martha Coakley is a smear merchant.
She already tried to tie Republican Scott Brown to Rush Limbaugh even though the two have never met.

Now tonight Martha Coakley tried to tie Scott Brown to “extreme right groups” who she says are pouring money into Massachusetts. She says this despite the fact that Brown raised over $1.3 million, mostly in small donations, in an online money bomb yesterday. And, she had the gall to say this outside of her Washington DC lobbyist fundraiser where 22 big-time lobbyists from drug, health care and insurance companies met tonight to help bail her campaign out.

Brian Maloney has more on Coakley’s big money fundraiser tonight.

As if Martha Coakley’s support from the corrupt establishment wasn’t already clear enough, now comes word that a coalition of sleazebag industry lobbyists have teamed up with Bay State Democrats for an eleventh-hour bailout of her faltering campaign.

Many of those involved in this hastily-organized rescue attempt have no Bay State ties, their only allegiance is to piggish K Street – Beltway lobbying firms.

At the Washington Examiner, Timothy Carney has the scoop:

With Democrat Martha Coakley in trouble in the Massachusetts special election to fill Ted Kennedy’s seat, Democrats could lose vote No. 60 for President Obama’s health-care bill. In response, an army of lobbyists for drug companies, health insurance companies, and hospitals has teamed up to throw a high-dollar Capitol Hill fundraiser for Coakley next Tuesday night.

Of the 22 names on the host committee–meaning they raised $10,000 or more for Coakley–17 are federally registered lobbyists, 15 of whom have health-care clients. Of the other five hosts, one is married to a lobbyist, one was a lobbyist in Pennsylvania, another is a lawyer at a lobbying firm, and another is a corporate CEO. Oh, and of course, there’s also the political action commitee for Boston Scientific Corporation.

All the leading drug companies have lobbyists on Coakley’s host committee: Pfizer, Merck, Amgen, Sanofi-Aventis, Eli Lilly, Novartis, Astra-Zeneca, and more. On the insurance side of things, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cigna, Humana, HealthSouth, and United Health all are represented on the host committee.

Coakley is being funded thousands of dollars from DC health care lobbyists but wants the public to believe that Scott Brown is being funded by big corporate donations and tea party devils.
She has no shame.

Wow! Scott Brown is now only down by 2 percentage points in the latest Rasmussen poll.
Among independents Brown leads Coakley 71% to 23%.

Football great and former Heisman Trophy Winner Doug Flutie endorsed Scott Brown in his latest online ad:

The Massachusetts’ special U.S. Senate election has gotten tighter, but the general dynamics remain the same.

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely voters in the state finds Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley attracting 49% of the vote while her Republican rival, state Senator Scott Brown, picks up 47%.

Three percent (3%) say they’ll vote for independent candidate Joe Kennedy, and two percent (2%) are undecided. The independent is no relation to the late Edward M. Kennedy, whose Senate seat the candidates are battling to fill in next Tuesday’s election.

Coakley is supported by 77% of Democrats while Brown picks up the vote from 88% of Republicans. Among voters not affiliated with either major party, Brown leads 71% to 23%. To be clear, this lead is among unaffiliated voters who are likely to participate in the special election.

Via Power Line

It’s Panic Time— The Democratic National Committee and the Martha Coakley campaign have blasted a private memo to top national Dem donors claiming internal polling shows the race is “very tight” and making an “urgent” appeal for donations.

UPDATE: These union workers were paid by the Coakley Campaign to hold signs last night but told the camera man that they’re voting for Scott Brown:

Via HotAir
From the report:

Scott Brown is a class act. He marched up the road with a banner and a group of supporters, stopping to shake everyone’s hand along the way. There were chants of “Go Scott, go!” the entire time. Coakley, per elitist fashion, whisked up in a stealthy and anonymous car.

One of the union workers actually turned around and said “I’m paid to be here, but I’m voting for Scott Brown. I just need the money, but don’t tell anyone.”

More… Obama’s SEIU friends just dumped $685,000 into the Coakley campaign.

Sarah Palin on Barack Obama’s sinking poll numbers: “Of course they’re sinking. It was just a matter of time.”

Sarah Palin was on with Bill O’Reilly tonight. She discussed Harry Reid’s racial comments saying, “A lot of us don’t think along those lines that somebody’s skin tone qualifies them for president.”
Ping.

Sarah Palin on Harry Reid:

You can’t defend those comments… That way of thinking is quite foreign to most Americans today. I come from a very diverse state. My family is very diverse. I’m married to an Alaskan native. A lot of us don’t think along those lines that somebody’s skin tone would be criteria for, a qualification for the presidency. So his thinking and articulating of that thought is quite perplexing.”

John McCain says that Americans are supporting Georgia. We are Georgians today. Everybody is a Georgian today.”

President Saakashvili singled out John McCain for his support of Georgia in August 2008 at a massive rally in Tbilisi.
The crowd roared!

Today Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili awarded Senator John McCain with the Order of Georgian National Hero today at the Sheraton in Batumi. Saakashvili honored John McCain for taking time during his campaign to stand with the people of Georgia… while others hid behind bushes.
Isria reported, via Islam in Europe.

The President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili awarded Senator John McCain with the Order of Georgian National Hero at Sheraton Hotel in Batumi.

This is the person, who has lived all his life as a hero. He accomplished much heroism for the United States and for Georgia as well. On behalf of Georgia, on behalf of today’s Georgians and Georgians of free future, I award Senator McCain with an award of Georgian National Hero”, stated the President of Georgia.

The President of Georgia noted that one can find out who is a friend in the period of hardship.

Many people swore friendship to us, but some of them hid behind the bushes. This man was leading the main fight of his life, when Russia declared an open war against us. He left his election campaign, he lost several days and came to Georgia. McCain defended Georgia several times a day on different TV channels around the world. We must never forget it”, stated the President of Georgia.

Mikheil Saakashvili presented Senator McCain a pistol. A Russian General sold this pistol to one Georgian high official in August 2008 and said that this pistol belonged to a US pilot, who had been detained in Vietnam. The President returned this pistol to Senator McCain symbolically, who was detained in Vietnam during the War for several years.

“This is not only my award, it belongs to Georgians, to Americans. This will be the most important award among those awards that I have received during my life. I will keep it in my heart”, stated Senator McCain and once again noted that he supports Georgia’s sovereignty and independence.

OF course, we all know who was hiding behind the bushes.

Martin Luther King’s niece Aveda King called Harry Reid’s racial comments sadly outrageous today.
FOX News reported:

The Rev. Al Sharpton, the Congressional Black Caucus and the NAACP all jumped to the defense of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid after his controversial remarks about President Obama, but the niece of Martin Luther King Jr. is calling Reid’s comments “sadly outrageous.”

“If Michael Steele or any other conservative had said anything like it, the remarks would be labeled racist and plastered over every available news outlet,” Alveda King said in a statement released Tuesday.

“What would my uncle and my father think, to hear such things from one of the most powerful leaders in the country? Their ‘beloved community’ is sorely threatened when racism rears its ugly head once again.”

Sen. Russ Fiengold did his own soul searching after Reid was quoted in a book saying candidate Barack Obama in 2008 could benefit from being light-skinned and not having a “Negro dialect” unless he wants one. Feingold told a local television station late Monday that he’s still mulling whether Reid should stay or step down as majority leader.

“I’m thinking about that and we’re going to be getting together as a caucus next week, and that topic will come up. I have not decided whether these comments merit that or not,” Feingold told ABC affiliate WISN. “They’re very unfortunate. They should have never been said. So I need to think about it.”

Meanwhile, Star Parker says Republicans are missing the point on Reid’s racist remarks.

Mayhill Fowler is a Huffington Post writer who traveled with Hillary Clinton during her 2008 campaign. From June 2007 through November 2008, she covered the 2008 presidential election for Off the Bus at The Huffington Post. Today she admitted that she knew about Bill Clinton’s affair during the 2008 campaign but chose not to write about it, via Free Republic.

Bill Clinton’s Mistress: The Story That Never Was

In February, 2008, while I was covering the Texas Democratic primary for HuffPost’s OffTheBus, I voluntarily passed on an opportunity to write about former president Bill Clinton’s longtime mistress. With considerable amusement, therefore, I anticipate reading Game Change, Mark Halperin’s and John Heilemann’s salacious new book about the 2008 presidential race, which will be released tomorrow, because they apparently rush in where I feared to tread. “After some discreet fact-finding, the [Hillary campaign staff] concluded that [the rumors] were true: that Bill was indeed having an affair,” H & H write. “For months, thereafter, the war room within a war room braced for the explosion, which her aides knew could come at any moment.” That moment could have occurred during the Texas primary.

Here is an excerpt from my book Notes from a Clueless Journalist: Media, Bias and the Great Election of 2008, where I discuss my decision not to write the story. In part, Clueless is an account of the painful and arduous method of learning journalism by doing it. As a neophyte, I had presumed to think I could cover the presidential election with no bias or partisan agenda. But Texas taught me that any reporter, like the snail carrying her house, always brings to storytelling a certain amount of personal baggage. As an unpaid citizen journalist, on the other hand, I could make choices about which other reporters could only dream. In Texas, I discovered that this enormous power was a Faustian gift.

Sometimes I thought that years of travel had taught me only one thing: to distinguish between observation and conclusion. I know what I’m looking at, but what am I really seeing? Driving back to Houston from Victoria that evening, I knew I had witnessed something significant–but did not know what. Not until the week before the Pennsylvania primary, at a midnight rally with Bill Clinton in Puerto Rican Philadelphia, did I realize that what I had seen two months before in Texas had been the specific problem Bill posed, not Hillary’s campaign itself. Managing former President Clinton must have been like trying to herd a rogue elephant. Huma Abedin, Hillary’s long-suffering and loyal aide, looked frazzled as she walked through downtown Victoria. The day when Bill Clinton had been a stellar asset to his wife’s campaign had come and gone. The autumn book-and-fundraising tour might as well have been years and not just a season ago…

At the time I covered the rally in Victoria, I had decided not to follow up on another story about Bill Clinton that had come my way–one involving his longtime mistress. I mention the nature of the Clinton story with some specificity now only because months later, after the Democratic primaries, the National Enquirer wrote about the relationship. In Texas, staring this story in the face, immediately I turned aside. If I know all about this woman, then surely every national reporter does and is as wary of the story as I am. Nevertheless, I was careful never to mention anything to anybody at OffTheBus.

Once again we find out that it was The National Enquirer who did the heavy lifting during the 2008 election uncovering not only John Edwards’ affair but Bill Clinton’s affair too.
Did you ever think you’d see the day when The National Enquirer became became the paper of record.
If the 2008 election taught us one thing, it’s that the mainstream media is dead.

The president of the US Chamber of Commerce warned today that the US may experience a double-dip recession thanks to the policies of Barack Obama and the Democratic Congress.

Tom Donohue, the Chamber president, also warned democrats that the Chamber will be more active in the 2010 elections and will target politicians who vote against the group’s priorities.
BERJAYA
Obama and the democrats tripled the US national deficit in one year.
The Hill reported:

U.S. Chamber of Commerce President Tom Donohue warned the U.S. faces a double-dip recession because of the taxes and regulations under consideration by the Democratic Congress and President Barack Obama.

“Congress, the administration and states must recognize that our weak economy simply could not sustain all the new taxes, regulations and mandates now under consideration. It’s a sure-fire recipe for a double-dip recession, or worse,” Donohue said in a speech providing the Chamber’s outlook for 2010.

Donohue said the lawmakers should not let former President George W. Bush’s tax cuts expire at the end of year and lambasted Democratic efforts on healthcare and financial regulatory reform as well as climate change.

If the tax cuts are allowed to expire, “we will likely end up with even bigger deficits and greater economic misery,” Donohue said.

Many tax lobbyists expect Congress to extend the cuts for people with lower tax rates, but to allow higher rates to be reimposed on those in the top bracket.

He also faulted Obama and Democratic lawmakers for not doing more to create jobs.

Donohue criticized a separate tax on banks floated by the administration on Monday, and said that the rationale for any tax increases would be increased spending, not lowering huge budget deficits exacerbated by the recession.

“We are talking about a massive tax increase in a very weak economy — a tax increase whose clearly intended purpose is not to reduce the deficit, but to pay for more spending,” he said.

He also promised the Chamber would be more involved in the 2010 midterm election than it has been in any other before, and will hold accountable lawmakers who vote against the group’s priorities.

The Chamber this year was very vocal in opposing Obama’s irresponsible health care bill and his job-killing cap and trade policies.

There’s only one “e” in “Massachusetts,” Martha.

A New Martha Coakley ad attacking Scott Brown misspells Massachusetts:
BERJAYA
What a horrid ad. Does she really want people to start thinking about what they can’t afford after democrats just tripled the national deficit in one year?
Mass Live reported:

On the heels of last night’s final debate between Martha Coakley, Scott Brown and Joseph L. Kennedy, Coakley released a new ad attacking Scott Brown — an aggressive turn that many observers have thought was long overdue.

However the ad’s message might get lost by a spelling gaffe that appears in the ad’s closing seconds. In the fine print appearing at the bottom of the screen, the ad reads:

Paid for by Massachusettes Democratic Party and Authorized by Martha Coakley for Senate. Approved by Martha Coakley.

Close observers will notice that there is an extra ‘E’ tacked onto the end of ‘Massachusetts. It’s a trivial oversight, for sure, but you can bet that the jokes and jabs the typo will inspire will blunt at least some of the impact of the ad.

What will you remember most from this ad?
