Some pretty awesome news for fans of James Cameron's Aliens movie comes in today via Eurogamer. According to the site, Lance Henriksen who played the android called Bishop in the movie has now officially signed up with Sega to perform voice over work for the upcoming Aliens vs. Predator shooter being developed by Rebellion. No sooner has Gearbox Software released the first downloadable content pack for its well-received RPG shooter, Borderlands, than another one gets some not-so-subtle hints. According to the PlayStation 3 trophy site ps3.trophies.org, five new trophies have recently been added to the game which suggests that a new DLC pack might take place in some kind of arena-based setting. One of the people responsible for Valve's first-person-puzzler Portal, Kim Swift, has left the company for a position with Dark Void developer Airtight Games (via Game|Life). Swift was one of the DigiPen students whose 2005 thesis project, Narbacular Drop, landed her and her team jobs at Valve.
Swift commented on the move, "I've learned so much and had some amazing experiences at Valve, but when I heard I had the opportunity to work on innovative titles with my friends over at Airtight, I couldn't pass it up." In addition to Portal, Swift worked on Left 4 Dead and its sequel. Airtight games is currently finishing Dark Void and has no other projects announced. Read More »

About 50 people gathered in Brisbane, Australia to show their support for the creation of an R18+ rating (via GamePolitics). Game ratings are a hot topic in Australia since Left 4 Dead 2 and Modern Warfare 2, among others, were held back from release by the Australian ratings board. Nicolas Suzor of Electronic Frontiers Australia and Ethan Watson of the blog Treat Us Like Adults spoke at the rally, and posted the whole event on YouTube.
Suzor and Watson's call to action is to get the Commonwealth Minister of Home Affairs, Brendan O'Connor, to release the R18+ discussion paper. The EFA has a pre-written letter addressed to Mr. O'Connor on its wiki site. Read More »
The net is buzzing with news that Valve's Team Fortress 2 could potentially be received a new gameplay mode -- based around friendship? According to a video that's been uploaded to YouTube (h/t D'toid) new sound files that were snuck into the game during a recent patch suggest that this new mode is some kind of friendship-based mode.

In an interview over on NowGamer, id Software's creative director Tim Willits tries to allay PC gamers' fears that id's upcoming racer/shooter Rage will not "feel like a true PC game, [but] a PC port of a console game."
Willits talks about the fact that the developer has taken very specific steps to make sure that the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Rage will feel right for their respective controllers and interfaces. Read More »
World of Warcraft's current resident bad boy Arthas is about to get served. Starting later today Blizzard will be rolling out the latest content patch (3.3.0) across North American servers. The "Fall of the Lich King" patch will be the last big content patch to hit the game before the upcoming expansion pack Cataclysm launches next year.

Today Electronic Arts confirmed in a press release that Dead Space 2 is currently in development. Visceral Games, the first game's developer, is working on the title, which promises new weapons, monsters, and plot twists. Executive Producer Steve Papoutsis sets the scene: "The infection continues to spread throughout space and our hero Isaac Clarke is the only person able to contain it." No release window has been mentioned, but we do know Dead Space 2 is being developed for the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. Read More »

Good news for fans of the classic multiplayer game M.U.L.E. comes in today in the form of Planet M.U.L.E. The independent website has launched an online multiplayer version of Dani Bunten's 1983 economic supply-and-demand game.
The client is currently available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux and can be found on the site's download page. M.U.L.E. is often recognized as one of the best videogames ever made. Read More »
