Nerdcore international Tour 2007 Journal Starts NOW!
Greetz!
Before I begin, If you have any pix of the events on tour, PLEASE send them to 8bwinf@gmail.com! Thank you In Advance, I will add some to the tour blogs as we go a long...
Now ComputeHer, 8-Bit, and 8 Bit Weapon launched the Nerdcore International Tour 2007 last Friday to a healthy audience of gamers at the Scene bar in Glendale.
ComputeHer, MelBot, and I left home base around 6 to get to the venue by 7 and setup/sound check. However when we arrived at 7, no one was there. SO we set off on foot to find pre-party food. We fond our selves at a poopular taco establishment (the name did ring a bell) were we enjoyed a round of, well, TACOS! After that we went back to see if anyone was at the club.
7:30 no one there...SO we went off to find batteries for the GameBoy and our camera. After find them at a local market, we returned to the club to find Jon, Chris, Nasty Nate, and Nick...the Nerdcore Four. lol
Chris, Jon, and Nick all looked sharp, but nate...ohhh nasty* (*in a Janet Jackson sense) NATE...was FLY! He had green sweats with orange pull strings and a green and orange matching batman shirt. I think convenience sums up his ensemble nicely.
After the greetings were covered between our two parties, chris opted for a quick photo shoot of us. Up till that moment, we had only one picture of us as a band. We were all a bit tired from the last several weeks of moving, so I hope we get at least one good one out of the pix Chris took! lol
Shortly there after, The barkeep showed up with a friend and opened the doors for us. We all flooded in and I began to set up our stage show. Chris & Jon, with the help of nasty nate and Nick, set up the merch both. Prolly the BEST merch booth I've ever had! They had 8 Bit Weapon shirts, ComputeHer & 8BW cd's, Nerdcore nudist gamer girl calendars, and the SUPER AWESOME NERDCORE INTERNATIONAL TOUR 2007 POSTERS!!! Jon, Chris, Nate, and Nick were happy to serve all who approached the merch booth that night.
by 10, it was time for Chris to announce the tour and Nerdcore, then ComputeHer to start the party, and did she EVER! Her intro track dropped the Bass bomb on everyone and got the show going with a punch. For Coco Kitty, she rocked the GameBoy to hammer out the ninja quick melodies and bootylicious bass kicks. But she didn't stop there, she was dealing out the hits like a boxing pro. Tickled Pink was a no brainer for the show, and the bass was so phat you could feel it massaging your spine. The KO punch was her live debut of the new song "Sysop"...a fast paced GameBoy dance number with a infectious melody. If you wanna sell merch at a show, do a show like ComputeHer! No schlock, just rock!
at her sets completion, she thanked the audience and Chris Carle Took the stage to give away some 8 Bit Operators Merch. He was going to promote the tour also, but he got cut off as our backing track kicked in halfway into his speech. I had set up the computer to do ComputeHer's set, then have a timed intermission, then start our 8 Bit Weapon set. Sorry chris!
Anyhow, SO we kicked off the show with a classic, Neuromancer Ending music by Dave Warhol. Nice steady rockin number with some great SID chip sounds. ComputeHer on drums, and MelBot on synth/vocoder, and my self on the ol' C64/128 combo...We were rockin, and yes, like dokken! We had the party going strong by the time we go One Last Mission in full effect. Then the dancers started to find their way onto the dance floor by the time Micro Boogie throbbed across the dance floor. Then the rockin got by the time we got to our last two songs GameBoy Rocker and Crazy Comets. Even the Nerdcore 4 got their groove on. Jon even got on stage for a bit and did some amazing karate kid moves (deadly if used near others). We stopped with Crazy comets, but the crowd demanded an encore! So we gave them Igustra! This sent the crowd into meltdown as chris dropped to the ground and did "the worm"! Our m8 Ryan even exploded (yes exploded) on to the dance floor with his patented style of dancing...Thanx!
Then 8 Bit Took the stage in their robo suits and started their party just like any other...with Cocaine! The hit track off their new cd, Cocaine is the shiznit. They had some good momentum going, but they had some tech problems with mic cables and the backing trax...so momentum was lost here and there. That being said, they are recovery pros and had their shit back up and grooving like nothing happened. Then around the end of their set, they called me up on stage to let every one know I got married and that as a wedding gift, they were going to perform a song at my request...BATWINGS lol. That song rocked sooo hard...I think everyone sang a long at the end "I believe I can fly, my batwings can touch the sky.." The closed the set with their classic "S%ck My D@#k"...a touching climax to their show...
That was the 1st stop of the Nerdcore International Tour 2007...PIX willbe posted as folks send them to me...
Thank you to everyone who atteneded!

No-Tech Awards!
(Start the banjo music)
Hello, Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls to today's edition of "NO-TECH Awards!"
No-Tech awards go out to devices that are truely awesome, but, may have critical design flaws...such as today's winners.
The 1st award goes to Commodore Amiga 500. Commodore (r.i.p.) created the worlds 1st true multimedia computer! Awesome graphics, stereo digital sound, and powerful software library to boot! See Below:
Unfortunately, the engineers who created the electronic layout had a novel idea of idiotic proportions. But before I tell you what it is, lets look at the evolution of the commodore power switches.
The Commodore 64 had a simple on off switch on the body of machine next to the power cable input...makes sense. See below:
Then, with the C128, they added another nifty feature, the REST BUTTON...great! Now C128 or those who used it in C64 mode could just press a button (less effort than flipping the switch right next to it!) see below:
1) joy 1 2) Joy 2 3) reset 4) on/off swtich 5)power cord (thanx to vidgame.net)
BUT, with the new Amiga's they needed something different, something that would set it apart. Well my friends, the found it...they added the power switch to the power supply BRICK that goes under your desk!!! YES, Commodore Amiga 500 owners were now forced to bend down, to where ever their power supply box was and flip the switch. Maybe They had the same idea as the guys who did the Nintendo Wii, so people got exercise...well for their sake...I hope that's the case...see below:
Now the second award goes to a giant in the industry, Microsoft. Now I know there are folks in the global village that think they can do no wrong, so be warned your paradigm may shift just a little...
Last night, my wife and I made a nice meal in our new place and sat down to watch "Dream Girls" on dvd via our xbox (classic). I put the dvd in, I own the dvd dongle and remote combo. However, since we moved, I have misplaced the remote, SO I figured I could use the controller to play the dvd....NOPE! You cannot play a dvd on the Xbox without the dvd remote!!!!! DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMB! How hard could it be to program that?? Even SONY could do it...that's how easy it is! haha
One more thing..Unlike the Amiga 500...THERE IS NO POWER BUTTON!! lol The Xbox remote doesn't even turn the system on & off!!
Well there you have it....two winners that make us losers for buying them. lol
end of line...

Close Encounters with Biker Gang!
The other night ComputeHer, Melbot, and I were setting up a rehearsal space at the new house...
At this time, there is nothing else in the living room but music gear set up to practice for the tour. The living room is pretty big with two HUGE windows facing the street and another window on the right hand wall exposing us to more street. The neighbors must think we are nutz. lol Keep in mind, the tour launches this friday and we have been practicing nearly every night. So with that in mind, we get into position at our consoles and proceed to rock out like there is no tomorrow (just like a real show! See tour dates here)
Then, about halfway through the 1st song, a little girl on a bike wiz's by the two big windows in front of the house. We think nothing of it and keep rockin like dokken (old rock band)...Then the same girl sweeps by agian..and again...and again. Then by the 2nd or third tune she pulls up right in front of the window and just stands there to watch us for a minute. I look over to ComputeHer & Melbot, and we're looking at each other like "Uh oh"...obviously we arent fearful of kids, we just felt a bit exposed in our home lol. We dont want all the kids in our neighborhood to start coming to our house everyday expecting a show! lol I waved to the girl and she took off! I thought, ok, that was ez...
Then as we started our 4th song, and the girl returned... with 2 more friends on bikes. There was now gang activity, haha~! They rode around in circles in front of our house for a bit, like bikers do. Then they stopped in front of the window like the girl before, one little girl began to dance! lol "oh boy"
More little girls started to show up, I think there were about 5 now. They were all about 9-11 years old we think. By this point we decided we're going to close the blinds in the hopes that we could concentrate in pseudo privacy...
By our 5th song we think we are clear...then the door bell rang. "Crap!" We all figured it was an adult coming over to complain about the volume/noise. Here we are the new people on the block and we are having a concert in our living room! lol...So we feared the worst! I go to answer the door and behind the metal screen I find two little girls with a note...
"This is for you" they pass me a orange piece of folded paper and then dash away to the street where the other girls are gathered.
ComputeHer and Melbot ask what is was and I show them the note. We read it together...here it is:
This is the cover of the folded note:
This is inside the note:
How CUTE is that?! haha!
We told the girls we'd give them a CD tomorrow and they were very happy!
Now we have new friends (and fans) at our new home! lol
The end...
