Good games, D-pad control, blown pixels, GameCube link, and more.

Based on recent reviews, namely the fact that the story-less Yoshi Touch and Go got an 8.8 versus Rayman DS's 6.0, do I have anything to look forward to in the DS besides puzzle games and Mario 64 DS?

Joe

Actually, there's plenty to look forward to: Mario Kart DS, Animal Crossing, Touch! Kirby, Nintendogs, Castlevania DS, Lost in Blue, Pac-Pix, Meteos, Advance Wars DS...even Ultimate Card Games. And not to mention that Nintendo's definitely got a batch of games ready to announce at E3. Personally, I'm counting on a camera attachment for the system, as well as a DS version of Stage Debut. Nintendo's been kicking that one around for years, and it just makes sense on the Nintendo DS.

if you have a hard time controlling charaters in Mario 64 DS you guys must really be bad at video games, on DS anyway, and your making the same complaints about Rayman DS. why dont you let someone who knows how to use a d-pad review these games?

Ryan

Why don't you read the part in the review where I said that Rayman DS' D-pad controls suck, too.

-- Craig

I heard that nintendo are porting Zelda: Majora's Mask onto the DS. Is this true? (please say yes!)

MaTt

Now, do you want me to say yes, or do you want me to actually answer your question?

-- Craig

I love my ds but was wondering whether it, like the GBA has the ability to link to the gamecube and whether the same link cable can be used. Thanks

alex

Step 1: Pick up your Nintendo DS. Step 2: Inspect your Nintendo DS. Step 3: Tell me where you see any place where you can plug in the GameCube link cable without drilling a hole into the case of your system. Step 4: Hit yourself over and over again.

dude i plugged my headphones in to the headphone jack when i was playing once and wondered if my bro's SP headphones worked too, well they did but i forgot to unplug my regular headphones before hand and now no sound will come out of my DS' speakers.

kyle

Did you unplug the SP headphones as well? Because that would cause the sound to stop blaring out of your speakers, too.

I'm not sure if the mailbag is the best place to address this issue but everytime that I try to look at videos on your site it plays a PSP or army video. I am not an insider so I have to use the Windows Media Player but this has been an ongoing problem for about a week now and I wasn't sure if any other visitors to the site were having the same problem. Could you e-mail me personally if it is just a problem with my computer or address it in the mailbag if it is a general issue? Thank you.

Ryan

Those are called "video advertisements." If you're logged into IGN as an Insider, you don't get those ads. Sorry, but we gotta pay for Matt's backhair electrolysis somehow.

I saw the Ages of Empires pic and immediately got excited. But reading the article, you called the game "turn-based..." AoE is an RTS game!! Is this something besides a port, or did you just get jumbled? Thanks!

ATcaveman

I'm only going by the brief amount of data that's been officially revealed about the game. We should know more when Majesco and the development team tightens up the production on the DS.

I always wanted to know how to get E3 tickets, because no matter how hard I try I can't seem to find any!

Tom C.

E3 isn't a public showing. E3 doesn't want kids with grubby, sticky, Mike & Ike-covered playing with all the hundreds of games on the show floor. E3 is an industry event. But even with that said, E3 is incredibly easy to get into, if you know the way. And no, I'm not talking.

I have a Nintendo DS, and i think its great, i just have one problem. A green pixel is on every game i play, its only one pixel and very small, bit it is a tad annoying sometimes. Do i HAVE to send it back to get a replacement? I know i can but is there a better way of fixing it?

Duncan

Yeah, blown pixels are relatively common in LCD manufacturing. With the hundreds of thousands of pixels on the screen, chances are pretty good you're going to end up with one that's busted. You'll either find them as red, green, blue, white, or black -- since pixels are made of three color elements, one may remain on at all times. Or, all the color elements will be lit causing a white light. Or, the pixel won't work at all, which means it'll be black. Nintendo will replace your Nintendo DS if the pixel's bugging you, so make sure you call the phone number on the bottom of your system.
