Pitchfork Rates The New BTS Album 5.3, Calls It “Hollow” and "Generic" by DebateObjective2787 in popculturechat

One can like or dislike an album and that's completely fine but the author who shades BTS fans and baits them just loses some credibility imo since it looks like he justs wants to rile fans instead of doing an actual review of the album.

Jon Caramanica from the NY Times who has criticized BTS' work in the past, gave a good review of the album and gave some criticism of it but it came from a place with some ground, not just as someone who just wants to have headlines on twitter with snappy sentences.

“I was extraordinarily lucky to be given opportunities early on, probably partly because I'm one of the original nepo babies," Gwyneth joked, "but I would be lying if I said that that made my path clear."

“There were many moments when the industry made it very plain that women are expected to stay in their lane and to be graceful and quiet and above all to be one thing. And I've never been very good at being one thing,” she added, referring to launching her wellness and lifestyle company, Goop.

“I absolutely can’t believe it, I can’t believe that I’m looking at people like you, in the same category as you, never mind that I’m stood here,” the tearful actor, who also stars as Elrond in Prime Video’s “Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,” said to his fellow nominees. “I honestly cannot believe that I have won this award. I really, really cannot. Everyone in this category blows me away.”

Aramayo went on to thank a number of people including director and writer Jones as well as Davidson, before sharing an anecdote about Hawke from his schooldays. “When I was in school, Ethan Hawke came in to speak to us at Juilliard and he gave an amazing talk on longevity as an actor, about protecting your instrument and avoiding self destructive behaviors,” the younger actor recalled. “And it had a really great impact on everyone in that room. So to be in this category with you tonight is incredible. Thank you Ethan.”

“This doesn’t sit right with me. Not at all,” one user on Threads posted about the GoFundMe. “Sure, I get it. But thousands of people around the world face this exact situation every day and deal with the struggle. They don’t get $2.5 million. It’s just weird. He had to have had life insurance… and residual checks…”

Brooks saw this post and fired back in a response that reads: “I am one of the Van Der Beek’s closet friends and the headlines are fake AF you have no idea wtf you’re talking about,” Brooks wrote amid backlash. “You have no idea the pain they went through. It’s ok to stfu when you can’t know what the fuck you’re talking about. It’s ok not to try to seek attention off of other people’s suffering or the generosity in response to it. Because James touched them for decades. It’s ok for you to stay quiet in the face of blind stupidity, meanness and lack of empathy. But maybe you’re not okay.”

Amy Madigan 'Stunned' by Her First Oscar Nomination in 40 Years for Weapons: Acting 'Is a Long, Arduous Trip' by mcfw31 in entertainment

[–]mcfw31[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I'm just kind of stunned by the whole journey that I've been on," she tells PEOPLE just after the nomination was announced. "This is just kind of another piece of it that I was not expecting, but I'm just very happy and gratified and it's just a reflection on the film Weapons and how people are responding to it. So that — nothing is a better feeling than that."

"People always say, 'If you have a dream, follow it,' et cetera," she adds. "But those are true things when actors and writers and directors get up there and say that because it's a long, arduous trip, it takes a lot of work. Don't be deterred. And it's really true. When a good piece of material comes by, the actors, they want to grab it by the throat. It's exciting. That's why we do what we do. So it's all been kind of a whirlwind, but very exciting."

Matthew Lillard reacts to Quentin Tarantino criticizing his acting: 'It hurts' by mcfw31 in entertainment

[–]mcfw31[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Quentin Tarantino this week said he didn’t like me as an actor,” Lillard can be heard saying in a video from the event, prompting boos from the audience. “Eh, whatever. Who gives a s—.”

Once the booing died down, Lillard changed his tune, explaining how Tarantino’s remarks actually did affect him. “It hurts your feelings. It f—in’ sucks,” he said. “And you wouldn’t say that to Tom Cruise. You wouldn’t say that to somebody who’s a top-line actor in Hollywood.”

Lillard also noted that he’s not given the A-list treatment outside the convention circuit. “I’m very popular in this room. I’m not very popular in Hollywood,” he said. “Two totally different microcosms, right? And so, you know, it’s humbling, and it hurts.”
