Back door reference ruining my chances? by Lijo84 in recruitinghell

[–]Lijo84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure my official references didn’t lie to me. They are all super professional and ceo/managing director en of their respective companies. I reported directly to all four and I am 100% positive none of them are so petty they’d give me a negative reference and lie about it. They have been very supportive and I never had issues with either of them. So if someone said something negative it would be a backdoor reference

All my references was positive. But the speculation from my side is she might have had conversations on the side (as she did with at least one person I know of who called me and told me). If she did it isn’t a former leader but it could be a colleague I know she knows. Will a serious recruiter weigh an informal reference at the same weight as 4-5 more formal ones?

Glad to see the 6-7 craze is settling down. When my daughter turned 6 in January it was impossible to find either of those numbers in candles or balloons in any store lol. Should have ordered online but didn’t realize so was out the day before.

Oh I realize it wasn’t in this thread I wrote about the first partner boxes.

We found 6(!) boxes on the way out and since I have to children we were allowed to buy all of them (2 each). Ended up getting a full set of starters + two extra kanto and one extra Alola starters. I sold the extra trios on Facebook today and the kids are saving the money for 30th box although I don’t think we will find one in store lol

I found some of the new tins here and there if you don’t mind chaos rising and perfect order? Bought two in Smyrhs in Galway and a few in bookstores here and there. They were A lot cheaper than my home country (13 euros in Ireland compared to about 25 where I live in Norway). Smyths in central Dublin didn’t have a single pack but bought a tin in a toy shop next door.

We also bought some packs in the vending machine someone mentioned here, but it was more expensive but it was just fun to try the machine since we don’t have it.

But we were lucky to get so many boxes of first partner in the airport here in Norway on the outbound flight. I really don’t know how they could have that box still in stock at an airport.

Edit: we didn’t find any set besides cr and po except in our own airport, if that wasn’t clear

If your first was a terrible sleeper as a toddler, are your other kids the same? by dar1990 in Parenting

[–]Lijo84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 10 yo put himself to bed. He reads or listen to music in bed sometimes before he turn off the lights.

We read in bed with both the others. With my 6 yo i can normally go out after a book and playing one some - put sometimes she asks whoever is putting her to bed to stay and we normally comply because the boys have been hard to put to bed and we alyawa stayed with them. So feel like she deserve to have us stay the few times she ask, even if she don’t “need” it to fall asleep.

The 3 yo had a good 6 months falling asleep himself but we are now back to sitting at the side of the bed. We’ll try to see if we can go back to him falling asleep himself over the summer, but I also don’t like to push my kids to much on these things. I want them to know we are there for them if they really need it. So we’ll see.

Nope. My first hardly slept as a baby or toddler and still manages with less sleep then rest of the family although he have started to become more tired in the mornings on school days (he is 10 this year). My second falls a sleep in a second and sleeps until she is awakened by someone. My third is somewhere in the middle, hard to put to bed but is sleeping hard and long when he finally falls asleep. In the weekend the 10 yo is still up earlier than his two younger siblings who are 6 and 3 years old.

New to grading, unsure if this set should be graded? If yes, should I go with PSA or Beckett? by DR-Rebel in PokeInvesting

Wait there are sleeves. I can see the corners. But they are snug.

Op. Better off using penny sleeves that aren’t so tight. They can damage the cards.

I buy and sell slabs and singles for fun, but I also make some money from it. I use that money to also open packs, and occasionally get destine valuable there as well. I also graded some things and made profit. I think I am overall going circa plus/minus but of course I did use some money in the start before starting to make. I also spend a lot of time searching for, buying and selling the singles in order to actually make money from that part. The most important thing ti remember is that ripping packs always will be on the minus while the singles side don’t necessarily need to be a cost (but an investment).

That’s not what me or OP was talking about tough. The kids have to stay in their room on the own until further notice. Not allowed to go into parents room is one thing, but staying there alone when awake is a completely different. And no it’s not just my opinion. Cps and all modern research show a 3 year old is way to small to stay alone and awake in a room unless they want to selves.

You don’t have to let them into your bed - I meant it’s cruel the leave them ALONE. But you can then go to them if you want them to stay in their own bed. But Leaving them unattended in their own room, depriving them of human contact when they are awake and 3 year old and can’t go back to sleep is cruel.

[–]Lijo84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not. If a 3 year old wake up and can’t go back to sleep they are going to feel lonely. It’s cruel to not let them either come to you or you go to them. If you want them to go back to sleep in their own room, and they can’t do it on their own you need to go sit there with them.

You need to let them come into your bed. you can still teach them not to talk before the morning in your bedroom., but either always allow them to come to you or go to them. With the ages you are mentioning - especially a 3 yo - it sounds like you are putting a lot of responsibility on them if you expect them to stay quiet in their own room after waking up. If they can’t go back to sleep on their own you might have to help them, or else you are just being cruel.

Edit to clarify: adding that I meant to say the problem is leaving them alone. The solutions isn’t necessarily letting them come to your bed if you absolutely want them to sleep in their own room - you can also go to them. But don’t leave them all alone.

Visiting Dublin and Galway from Norway - shop? by Lijo84 in PokemonTCGIreland

Update! We got one of the new tins (Gengar) and a mini tin from The art and hobby shop in stephens gardens and pulled a clefable sir from POR in the mini tin.

On the airport in Norway we found first partner boxes. That was so crazy, I don’t know how it survived there but they must have gotten a random restock from some boxes being forgotten somehow. And we pulled 3 Kanto starters and 1 Alola.

Such crazy luck. We are so happy pulling this much and not even spending time going out of our way.

Ireland been great Pokemon wise for this little family 😊

Thank you so much for saying that. My son is determined to find something (and me personally would love to as well) but I know it will just ruin the weekend if we run around looking for shops and doesn’t find anything anyway so thanks for being honest so I can set expectations right.

Ill tell him they don’t really have card shops but we’ll visit one smyths and the dungeons and donuts shop, and if we’re lucky we’ll find something.
