The CloudStack European User Group in The Hague last week was officially the biggest CloudStack User Group gathering so far, bringing together cloud operators, developers, and infrastructure experts for a full day of technical sessions, practical deployment insights, and community collaboration focused on real-world Apache CloudStack use cases. From digital sovereignty and open-source cloud strategy to Kubernetes, storage innovation, multisite networking, and large-scale migration planning — the latest CloudStack European User Group in The Hague showcased how modern infrastructure teams are building flexible, scalable, and future-ready cloud environments. Apache CloudStack 4.22.1.0 is now available — bringing the latest updates to one of the most widely used open-source IaaS platforms. 🚀 As the latest Long-Term Support (LTS) release, Apache CloudStack continues to strengthen its focus on stability, scalability, and operational flexibility for cloud providers, enterprises, and hosting environments. Migrating cloud infrastructure does not always require a disruptive “rip and replace” approach. A great way to close the CloudStack European User Group in The Hague today with the session “Our CloudStack Journey” presented by Abdurrahman Ali and Perry Smolenaars from Centraal Bureau voor de Statistiek. As the host and one of the sponsors of today’s event, CBS played a key role in bringing the Apache CloudStack community together for a fantastic day of technical sessions, discussions, and networking. We’re grateful for their support and for sharing their CloudStack journey and operational experience with attendees. VMware migration to open-source infrastructure was a key topic at #CSEUG today. ShapeBlue team members Ingo Jochim and Prashanth Reddy presented a practical migration strategy from VMware to Apache CloudStack with KVM, covering discovery, planning, testing, and execution. The session explored techniques for achieving large-scale migrations with minimal downtime, supported by real-world experience and operational insights.

A great session at #CSEUG today with Noa O. discussing multisite Apache CloudStack networking across geographically distributed regions. The presentation covered cross-zone connectivity, routing design, operational challenges, and lessons learned from real-world deployments. Cyber resilience was front and centre during Marc De Schepper’s #CSEUG session today. The presentation explored how enterprise-grade data protection and recovery can strengthen Apache CloudStack environments, including implementation guidance, architectural considerations, and Commvault capabilities for improving cloud resilience.

Kubernetes vs virtual machines? Today’s #CSEUG session showed it doesn’t have to be one or the other. Stoil Stoilov explored where Kubernetes excels, where VMs remain the better option, and how CloudStack users can effectively combine both technologies in modern infrastructure environments.
