Municipal Census

The municipal census planned for 2021 was deferred due to challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. The next municipal census is scheduled to take place in 2025.

Alberta Statistics for Banff

The Government of Alberta estimates the population of Banff residents at 11,402 in 2025.

Government of Canada Census

The federal government, through Statistics Canada, conducts a nation-wide census every four years. 

• The results of the 2021 federal census for Banff were made available in 2022.
  • The federal census in 2021 lists the Banff population at 8,305 permanent residents.
