Remarks: Previously regarded as a subfamily of Boidae (e.g., Stimson 1969; Smith, Smith & Sawin 1977; Goin, Goin & Zug 1978). The genus Calabaria was transferred to the family Boidae by Kluge (1993), however, some authors place this genus in a separate family, Calabariidae (e.g., Zheng & Wiens 2016).

Distribution:  Africa, S. Asia, Malay Archipelago, Australia.
