    The Cardinals are giving Alex Reyes the chance to start this spring, but they were tantalized by what they say from him in relief last season. It's not hard to see why. Reyes breezed through a 1-2-3 inning on just 9 pitches, topping at 97.8 on the fastball, not dipping below 96.

    Jack Flaherty's first Spring Training inning was called after 23 pitches (which you're allowed to do). He recorded one out, a four-pitch strikeout of Victor Robles, before allowing two walks a single to load the bases. No runs scored -- at least in this reality.

    Erick Fedde will start Sunday in the Nationals' first spring training exhibition (against the Cardinals in Jupiter). Fedde was ready and Dave Martinez says WSH is easing in Max Scherzer (ankle), Stephen Strasburg (coming off surgery) and Joe Ross (coming off an opt out in 2020).
