You aren't providing quite enough information to get a useful response. In general -- you are probably falling into a trap of "premature optimization". The Linux kernel does a good job of handling very large files, even if they don't fit into memory. Write an initial version, maybe even in a scripting language, and worry about performance and memory issues when you hit them. You may be surprised! If not, at least you will now understand the specific performance issue and you will be able to ask more detailed and constructive questions. Don't try to write the perfect solution on your first try, expecting to hit a performance issue. You may not.

If there was a plasticy smell, then it could have been some kind of wrapping from delivery that was not fully removed from the car near the exhaust when it was prepped. It might have started to burn/melt when the exhaust got warm.

You could go to Iron Gate Cafe in Albany, but I also recommend scooting into Troy and going to Little Pecks for food/coffee -- there are lots of options in Troy and it's walkable and interesting to see. If you want a museum, the previously-recommended New York State Museum is a great and free option, near Iron Gate Cafe. The airport is in Latham which is about the same distance to Troy as to downtown Albany. Troy is the more "happening" place these days. Albany has its own vibe, but quieter.

Well, that sucks if you received some attitude. I am formerly from 'burque but was there last week, so I went to a lot of places while in town.

Flying Star Nob Hill staff was super friendly and the manager checked on us repeatedly with a smile. Annapurna on Silver if you are into chai, also friendly. Michael Thomas on Silver I did not stop by this trip, but probably also friendly. Didn't go to Little Bear Nob Hill but but I did go to Little Bear uptown and they were super friendly and chill. The great thing about ABQ is you can dial in your experience, lots of options nearby. Then try the original problem place in a month, see if anything has changed.

What exactly was the experience like? Aggressively mean-spirited -- are they scowling at you? Eyerolls?

Yep, I was too patient. I transferred my last remaining funds out of E*TRADE last week -- I was slowly transferring funds out over the past few months -- and both accounts are now closed.

After firmly communicating my expectation that they need to find and fix the source of the leak, not just "top off" coolant, they put dye in the system and were able to detect a slow leak at the service port of the AC system, which they confirmed was not just dye residue left over from putting in the diagnostic dye. We have the part on order from Germany -- it's the entire rubber line and service port assembly that in the 430i Gran Coupe is right in the front when you open up the hood. And it's going to take 2-3 weeks (now 1-2 weeks) to get here. After installation, they are going to perform another very thorough dynamic leak test (with dye, a refrigerant 'sniffer', real driving) to ensure the system is fully closed and the problem is resolved. Since this is the third time they are attempting to fix the issue, if the issue resurfaces, the vehicle basically qualifies for NY Lemon Law, and I could work with BMW NA to get a replacement vehicle without this issue. Let's hope we don't have to go there. In the mean time, I'm enjoying my 330i xDrive loaner. It's a pretty base model but I've gotten used to the non-adaptive suspension and runflats. So at least I get more varied BMW seat time :)
