    This is a really great book. It gives a really great overview of fashion from ancient times until the end of the 19th century, and it has a bunch of really great patterns in the back. I made a 17th century jacket from it. I'm working on the 14th century Pourpoint de Charles de Blois, and then I'm going to make a spencer.

    Still the best omnibus costume history book on the market at a reasonable price. Perfect? No, but if you need a place to start in learning about the history of clothing you won't find stupid errors, stupid ideas or bad scholarship - the usual faults with books of this kind. The illustrations are excellent!

    Exactly the book I wanted. Used it in college and loaned mine out but never was returned. Great book that shows influence of economics and politics of the time to clothing.
