Hidden in the middle of the country, Aguascalientes has been nothing but good to me these past two years.
The cost of living is lower than in most popular Mexican cities in this community.
The city consistently ranks highly in terms of safety.
Thanks to the city’s location in the central highlands of Mexico, the natural landscape, and the mostly clear skies, sunsets here often feature stunning combinations of color and light. Plus the mountain backdrop is the cherry on top.
It is located at the heart of Mexico, making it a great hub for travel. It's just a few hours away by car from major cities like Guadalajara, León, and San Luis Potosí. It also has an international airport with direct flights to the U.S.
The weather is generally pleasant year-round, with average temperatures around 65-72°F
The Rodolfo Landeros Gallegos Park gives you access to a small zoo, a lake, an aviary, and the wonderful joy of getting nipped by the occasional goose. All for just 5 Mexican Pesos. You can also rent golf carts and bicycles if you don't feel like walking since the park is not exactly small, and on top of that there's a bunch of food vendors inside.
And my personal favorite is the yearly Feria De San Marcos a three-week festival that is just crazy, Great people, all types of music, and obviously I can't forget the copious amounts of alcohol.
I have no idea why this place is not more popular considering all the other cities that are mentioned almost daily are overpriced for Mexico and they got so over-saturated with foreigners that the locals genuinely hate them. Aguascalientes may not be the biggest city in Mexico but it sure is a hidden gem hidden in plain sight. If Mexico is your cup of tee you might want to consider this city.
