I'm not worried about manifest v3. hblock is way better than most ad blockers because it uses your hosts file to work. In other words, it's not constantly running in the background. Web sites can't detect it and it works any browser. It's worth mentioning the equivalent on Android is AdAway.

Best DNS apps suggestions? - Adguard, rethink, Adaway, blockada, dns66, nextdns

So I've always used Adguard DNS in Android Settings > custom DNS > unfiltered.adguard-dns.com

Figured I'll check out what the apps do. Maybe for my PC too. (Idm paying)

So found the HowToMen video https://youtu.be/Iigq1kRnKxQ?si=8H40cNgF-y6WIyZ_

And downloaded all of them from F-droid or it's website. I am rooted. (Don't seem much need for it) I use 110 apps total.

So what DNS app do you use? I prefer if I can customize it. And add it directly to my Android settings. But I'd also like to use Ads on 1 mobile games (for the ad rewards) so per-app settings are cool.

Rn. I'm torn between Adguard & Rethink. Cause rethink can just block wifi/mobile data to an app entirely. And I don't see that option in Adguard app.

Suggestions?

I recently factory resetted my phone and found out bigtincan who supported AdFree sold their domain to some generic sales company also called bigtincan. I like AdFree the most because it seems the most hands off. I just tried ABP and apparently it has to be on constantly with a constant access to root as shown on my status bar. Is adfree supported elsewhere now? I might not even go back to adfree.

The overall question is: what is the best adblock app?

AdAway - Is it still good?

Hello! I have recently spent about a year or so on iOS because the only phone available to me was an iPhone 5s but a family friend recently gave up their Galaxy S4 so I am pretty excited to be back on Android. My question is:

Is AdAway still a good way of blocking ads? The last update was a while ago so I wanted to know if the project was still a thing, if not, how do the rest of you block ads system wide?

LineageOS more powerful with AdAway FOSS ad blocker for Android!

A must have on your Android device, guys!

Not allowed in the google play store, we all know why. For all those who no longer want to make their data available to a data kraken for free.

Fulfils its purpose on the latest LineageOS. All advertising from all apps disappears as if by magic.

Github / AdAway / AdAway / releases ... - FOSS (latest v5.1.0 works perfectly on latest LineageOS v17.1)

Free your smartphone from google!

Rich Paul on steering AD away from Celtics: "Last thing you want to do is put a GM in a situation where he trades away an asset and then the guy walks out the door...He wasn't willing to give up the young players, I don't blame him. I wouldn't give them up either if the guy is not going to re-sign."

I was trying to convince my friend why he should switch to Lineage/root and all I could think of that they would find useful is Adaway. What else would a normal person find beneficial?

The phone is a Galaxy S5 (6.0.1)... Other than longer battery life, smaller system storage, and speed improvements, I feel like I'm missing something.

So adaway works fine for a couple minutes when I enable it first, it blocks ads fantastically but then the ads start coming back and when I check the drop down menu for the adaway setting, it's off. And when I try to re-enable it, my phone reboots. Does anyone know why this happens and if there's a way to fix?

How does adaway work in root? How do I fix this without rebooting every time?
