Top 10 Streaming Ratings: Week Ending September 13, 2020

Netflix's 'Cobra Kai' again led the weekly streaming ratings with 1.655 billion minutes of watch-time, down a bit from last week's monster 2.2 billion, but still atop all competition. Also on Netflix, 'Away' more than doubled its viewership from last week, delivering 1.366 billion minutes (vs. 631 million) while 'Lucifer' was down ~300M to 1.12 billion minutes but was still good enough for third place. Amazon's 'The Boys' was the only other program with over 1 billion minutes (1.06B).

Other top performers of the week include the usual suspects: 'The Office' (947 million), 'Criminal Minds' (783 million), 'Grey's Anatomy' (705 million), 'NCIS' (587 million), and 'Shameless' (556 million). Finally, 'Sister, Sister' snuck into the 10th spot with 432 million.

Top 10 Streaming Ratings: Week Ending September 6, 2020

Netflix took 8 of the top 10 spots this week in the Nielsen top 10 ratings of programs on streaming services. 'Cobra Kai' (NET) dominated with 2.171 billion billion minutes of watch time, about 1/3 more than second-ranked 'Lucifer' (NET) which was at 1.415 billion minutes. The second-season premiere of Amazon's 'The Boys' logged 891 million minutes, just ahead of Netflix's stalwart 'The Office' at 843 million. Also of note, Disney+ just barely made the list with 'Mulan' taking the 10th spot on the week (525 million minutes).

Other programs in the top 10 this week all come from Netflix: 'Criminal Minds' (675 million), 'Shameless' (639 million), 'Away' (631 million), 'Grey's Anatomy' (616 million), and 'The Legend of Korra' (541 million).

Various Programs (Netflix and Amazon): Ratings Recaps

Below are ratings charts for a variety of different programs on both Netflix and Amazon with data from Nielsen Media Research. The data provided differs by show, so the tables will look different from program to program, though every program has a column for total viewership. Top performances include the season 3 premiere of 'Stranger Things' which notched an impressive 19.2 million U.S. viewers within 3 days of its release - up from 15.8 million which saw the season 2 premiere within three days. 'Tiger King' delivered nearly 19 million U.S. viewers within its first 10 days while 'Bird Box' notched nearly 35 million in that same frame. The third season of 'Ozark' was a bit lower, at just 8.7 million viewers in its first 10 days, but the sixth season of 'House of Cards' was even worse, logging a disappointing 2.9 million viewers for its season premiere within the first week of its release.

Disenchantment (Netflix): Season 1 Ratings

Netflix's 'Disenchantment' was released on the streaming platform Friday August 17, 2018, and averaged 4.4 million U.S. viewers within three days of its release according to data released by Nielsen Media Research. As can be expected, the show declined in viewership among each subsequent episode, and was seen by 759,000 viewers for its 10th episode. Among adults 18-49, the series averaged 1.57 million viewers, out of its 2.08 million total viewership average.

Orange is the New Black (Netflix): Season 6 Ratings

The sixth season of Netflix's 'Orange is the New Black' premiered July 27, 2018 to a 3.6 U.S. households rating with 5.37 million U.S. viewers within three days. Approximately 993,000 people watched the final episode of the season within 3 days, and the season as a whole averaged 2.56 million viewers, including 1.87 million in the 18-49 demo. A seventh season will premiere in 2019.

13 Reasons Why (Netflix): Season 2 Ratings

Season 2 of Netflix's '13 Reasons Why' premiered May 18, 2018 to 6.08 million viewers within its first three days, including 366,000 who were aged 2-11, 970,000 aged 12-17, and 3.19 million aged 18-34. Over 13 episodes, the series averaged 2.64 million viewers, including 1.96 million of which were under the age of 35: 74% of its audience. The series also skewed 65% female on average (1.72 million). The season finale was seen by 986,000 viewers within three days, include 641,000 females and 173,000 people aged 12-17.
