Sunday November 18, 2018 Nielsen Finals

'The Walking Dead,' on AMC, topped the Sunday cable ratings, but fell to a new series-low in both the key A18-49 demo (1.8 rating) and total viewers (4.79 million). The program again led in both men & women 18-49 (1.87/1.73 ratings), males & females 12-34 (0.95/0.96), and people 18-34 (1.02) & 25-54 (2.27). A Hallmark original movie, 'Christmas in Evergreen' brought in the best P50+ rating (2.51) and the second-best total viewership (4 million) on cable. Among female-skewing programs, Bravo's 'Real Housewives of Atlanta' had the second-best W18-49 rating (1.04) and had 1.86 million viewers; E!'s 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' notched a 0.88 rating in that demo with 1.23 million viewers; and TLC's '90 Day Fiancė' had a 0.8 with 1.79 million viewers. Elsewhere on basic cable, two premiere episodes of A&E's 'The Clinton Affair' were marginal at 0.21/0.20 in the demo with 1.1 million/1.04 million viewers, and parts 3 and 4 of Sundance's 'Jonestown' were remarkably stable from yesterday, averaging the same 0.11 demo rating with 437,000 viewers. On premium cable, HBO aired 'Last Week Tonight' (762,000), 'Camping' (273,000), & 'Sally4Ever' (142,000), while Starz had 'Outlander' (861,000). Showtime had 'Ray Donovan' (871,000), 'Escape at Dannemora' (397,000) and 'Enemies' (175,000).

Wednesday November 7, 2018 Nielsen Finals

ESPN's coverage of 'NBA Basketball' between Minnesota and the Los Angeles Lakers took victory on Wednesday cable with a 1.01 A18-49 rating and 2.21 million viewers. The game also led the day in men 18-49 (1.54 rating), males 12-34 (1.18), and people 18-34 & 25-54 (1.0). On FX, 'American Horror Story' led all programming in women 18-49 (0.83), ranked second in females 12-34 (0.58), and had 1.65 million viewers, while on VH1 'Black Ink Crew' took the top spot in F12-34 (0.62), ranked second in W18-49 (0.82), and had 1.07 million viewers. Over at Comedy Central, 'South Park' was at 0.67/0.57 in M18-49/M12-34 with 826,000 viewers, and at Bravo, 'Real Housewives of New Jersey' notched 0.67/0.36 in those corresponding female demos with 1.19 million viewers. Elsewhere, TBS's 'Full Frontal with Samantha Bee' scored a 0.34 in W18-49 with 956,000 viewers, and MTV's 'Are You the One?' was at 0.43 in F12-34 with 480,000 viewers. Finally, on Pop, the series-premiere of 'Clique' was abysmal at a dead zero in adults 18-49 and just 11,000 viewers.

Wednesday October 31, 2018 Nielsen Finals

Perhaps fittingly, FX's 'American Horror Story: Apocalypse' led the Halloween cable ratings, averaging a 0.74 A18-49 rating with 1.63 million viewers. The show also led cable in women 18-49 (0.76 rating), females 12-34 (0.54), and both people 18-34 (0.64) & 25-54 (0.82). TNT's coverage of 'NBA Basketball' between the Pacers and Knicks led in both men 18-49 (0.89) & males 12-34 (0.63) and averaged 1.37 million viewers. The Spurs/Suns game was at 0.67/0.48 in those demos with 1.07 million viewers. On VH1, 'Black Ink Crew' ranked second in both the W18-49 demo (0.65) & F12-34 demo (0.51) with 989,000 viewers. Other female-skewing shows include both Bravo's 'Real Housewives of Dallas' and OWN's 'Greenleaf' which were at 0.27/0.26 respectively in W18-49 and 564,000/1.18 million in total viewers. Comedy Central's 'South Park' was at 0.62/0.32 in M/W18-49, 0.48/0.29 in M/F12-34 and averaged 842,000 viewers. Four hours of Travel Channel's 'Ghost Adventures Live' were remarkably strong, ranging from 0.32 to 0.37 in the demo and from 823,000 to 970,000 in total viewers. Over at FXX, 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' hit a three-week high in the demo (0.19) and total viewers (323,000), while at IFC, the two season-premiere episodes of 'Stan Against Evil' were at 105,000 & 110,000 viewers, down from the show's second season finale back in Nov. 2017 (189K/173K).

Wednesday October 24, 2018 Nielsen Finals

FX's 'American Horror Story: Apocalypse' took victory on Wednesday cable with a 0.90 A18-49 rating and 1.85 million viewers. The show led all of cable in women 18-49 (0.98 rating), females 12-34 (0.78), adults 18-34 (0.83), and adults 25-54 (0.89). It also tied ESPN's 76ers/Bucks 'NBA Basketball' game in the men 18-49 demo (both 0.82). That game ranked second on the day in the A18-49 demo (0.56 rating), but led the day in the males 12-34 demo (0.67). On VH1, 'Black Ink Crew' ranked second on the day in both W18-49 (0.71) and F12-34 (0.5), delivering 1.04 million total viewers. Over at MTV, 'Are You the One?' averaged a 0.41 rating in the W18-49 demo, a 0.42 in the F12-34 demo, and 483,000 viewers, and at Bravo, 'Real Housewives of Dallas' notched a 0.39/0.22 in those demos with 673,000 viewers. TBS's 'Full Frontal with Samantha Bee' saw a very slight male skew in both the 18-49 demo (0.30/0.29) and 12-34 demo (0.12/0.11), and averaged 863,000 viewers. Finally, El Rey's 'Lucha Underground' had 80,000 viewers.

Wednesday October 17, 2018 Nielsen Finals

TBS's coverage of the 'MLB ALCS' between the Astros and Red Sox led all Wednesday cable with a 1.73 A 18-49 rating and 6.18 million viewers. The game led the day in households (3.76 rating), men & women 18-49 (2.33, 1.14), males 12-34 (1.49), adults 18-34 (1.35) and adults 25-54 (2.0). On FX, 'American Horror Story: Apocalypse' led cable in the female 12-34 demo (0.77 rating), and averaged 2.01 million viewers; the show also ranked second in W18-49 (1.03). Coverage of the 'MLB NLCS,' on FS1, ranked third in the key 18-49 demo (0.88 rating) with 3.75 million viewers. It ranked second in M18-49 (1.32) and males 12-34 (0.94). Over at VH1, 'Black Ink Crew' averaged the third-highest W18-49 rating (0.59) and F12-34 rating (0.48) of the day, while 'Safeword' averaged 0.26 in both demos; in total viewers, the two shows were at 923,000 & 378,000. On MTV, 'Are You the One?' had a strong 0.42 rating in F12-34 with 466,000 viewers, and on Bravo, 'Real Housewives of Dallas' notched a 0.37 in W18-49 with 605,000 viewers. TBS's 'Full Frontal with Samantha Bee' skewed heavily male for last night's episode, with men 18-49 (0.34 rating) more than doubling the women 18-49 (0.16 rating) audience. Other Wednesday shows of note include: OWN's 'Greenleaf' (1.21 million), Comedy Central's 'South Park' (0.62 M18-49 rating, 705,000 viewers), FXX's 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' (298,000), and TeenNick's 'Bureau of Magical Things' (95,000).

Thursday October 11, 2018 Nielsen Finals

NFL Network's simulcast of 'Thursday Night Football' topped the Thursday cable ratings with a 1.09 A18-49 rating and 2.98 million total viewers. According to data from the NFL, there were 2.1 million unique streamers and an average minute streaming audience of 773,000 for the game. The game averaged a combined 7.9 M18-49 rating (6.3 on FOX, 1.6 on NFL Net), as well as a 4.75 A18-34 rating (3.9 on FOX, 0.85 on NFL Net). Elsewhere on cable, MTV's 'Jersey Shore: Family Vacation' remained strong notching a cable-leading 0.8 women 18-49 rating with 1.15 million viewers, while the two series-premiere episodes of 'How Far is Tattoo Far' were at 0.49/0.43 in that demo with 610,000/540,000 viewers. Over at Bravo, 'Shahs of Sunset' scored a 0.44 W18-49 rating with 988,000 viewers, and on TruTV, 'Impractical Jokers' averaged a 0.26 M18-49 rating with 522,000 viewers.

Wednesday October 10, 2018 Nielsen Finals

FX's 'American Horror Story: Apocalypse' easily walked to a Wednesday cable victory with a 1.02 A18-49 rating and 2.12 million total viewers. The show led cable in women 18-49 (1.16 rating), people 18-34 (0.99), females 12-34 (0.92), and adults 25-54 (1.02). An NBA preseason game between the Warriors and Lakers, on ESPN, ranked second on the day with a 0.78 key demo rating and 1.98 million viewers. That game led cable in men 18-49 (1.17 rating) and males 12-34 (0.88). Comedy Central's 'South Park' notched a 0.8 rating in M18-49 with 966,000 viewers, while VH1's 'Black Ink Crew' averaged a 0.73 rating in 18-49 with 1.09 million viewers, and MTV's 'Are You the One,' had 422,000 (0.35 rating in F12-34). Elsewhere, 'Greenleaf,' on OWN, had a 0.24 W18-49 rating with 1.17 million viewers, 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia,' on FXX, had 342,000, and 'Safeword,' on VH1, had 397,000

Thursday October 4, 2018 Nielsen Finals

NFL Network's simulcast of 'Thursday Night Football' between the Colts and Patriots led all of Thursday cable with a 1.04 A18-49 rating and 2.79 million total viewers. The game also led in men 18-49 (1.47 rating), males 12-34 (0.87), people 18-34 (0.78), and people 25-54 (1.22). The 30-minute post-game (not in the table below) oddly enough brought in higher ratings in M18-49 (1.56), M12-34 (0.88), and P18-34 (0.79), despite having slightly fewer viewers (2.629 million). On MTV, 'Jersey Shore Family Vacation' topped all of cable in both women 18-49 (0.78 rating) and females 12-34 (0.67), and averaged 1.05 million viewers. At WEtv, 'Braxton Family Values' delivered a 0.47 rating in W18-49 (#3 on cable) with 898,000 viewers, while 'Bossip' managed only 468,000. Finally, TruTV aired two episodes of 'Impractical Jokers' which were at 480,000/645,000 respectively in viewership. Interestingly, while the first episode skewed more male (0.26/0.23 in M/F 18-49), the second skewed female (0.33/0.37). 

Wednesday October 3, 2018 Nielsen Finals

The 'MLB Wild Card' game between the Yankees and Athletics, on TBS, led everything on cable with a 1.8 A18-49 rating and 6.16 million viewers. The game led in men 18-49 (2.65 rating), males 12-34 (1.69), people 18-34 (1.43), and people 25-54 (2.09). On FX, 'American Horror Story: Apocalypse' took victory in the W18-49 demo with a 1.08 rating (0.86 in F12-34, #1) and 2.02 million viewers. Over at VH1, 'Black Ink Crew' had a 0.62 W18-49 rating with 997,000 viewers and 'Safeword' was at 0.3 with 504,000 viewers; on MTV, 'Are You the One' notched a 0.38 in that demo (same in F12-34) with 432,000 viewers, and on Bravo, 'Real Housewives of Dallas' had 0.32 with 646,000 viewers. Comedy Central's 'South Park' took third on cable in A18-49 (0.53 rating), M18-49 (0.72), and P18-34 (0.57), with 925,000 total viewers. Elsewhere in the scripted sphere was OWN's 'Greenleaf' (1.08 million), Nickelodeon's 'I Am Frankie' (762,000), and FXX's 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' (319,000).

Wednesday September 26, 2018 Nielsen Finals

CBS took victory in the demo on a very competitive Wednesday, averaging a 1.7/7 rating/share and 6.74 million viewers in primetime. NBC led in viewers (7.67 million) despite ranking fourth in the demo (1.2/6). FOX (1.7/7, 5.37 million) ranked second, and ABC (1.3/6, 4.99 million), third. The season premieres of ABC's three returning Wednesday comedies: 'The Goldbergs' (1.4/7, 5.15 million), 'American Housewife' (1.2/6, 4.4 million), and 'Modern Family' (1.6/7, 5.4 million) provided decent lead-in numbers for the series premieres of both 'Single Parents' (1.3/6, 4.9 million) and 'A Million Little Things' (1.1/5, 5.1 million). On NBC, the new night of all Chicago shows exhibited remarkable compatibility. The night was led by 'Chicago Med' (1.2/6, 7.8 million), then 'Chicago Fire' (1.3/5, 8.1 million), and finally 'Chicago PD' (1.2/5, 7.1 million). Both FOX's 'Empire' (1.9/9, 6.1 million) and 'Star' (1.4/6, 4.6 million) returned on par with their numbers last season, and on CBS, 'Big Brother' (1.7/7, 5.6 million) held all of its 'Survivor' (1.7/7, 7.8 million) lead-in.

Wednesday September 19, 2018 Nielsen Finals

Week two of FX's 'American Horror Story' fell to 1.07 in the 18-49 demo (from 1.45), and to 2.21 million viewers (from 3.08 million), but still remained atop the Wednesday cable ratings by a healthy margin. The show put forth big numbers in the women 18-49 demo (1.11 rating, #1), and the female 12-34 demo (0.85 rating, #1). VH1's 'Black Ink Crew Chicago' had a 0.83 rating in W18-49 at 8pm (#3) with 1.13 million viewers, while two episodes of 'Black Ink Crew' were at 0.93 (#2) and 0.78 (#4) in that demo with 1.31 million and 1.14 million viewers at 9pm and 10pm respectively. On Bravo, 'Real Housewives of Dallas' averaged a 0.36 rating in W18-49 with 683,000 viewers, and on OWN, 'Greenleaf' was at 0.43 in that demo with 1.42 million total viewers. Over on USA Network, both 'Suits' and 'The Sinner' finished their runs for the year (the former will return in the winter), both skewing female (0.29 in W18-49 for 'Suits,' and 0.31 for 'Sinner'), and averaging 1.08 million and 1.13 million viewers respectively. MTV aired 'Teen Mom: Where Mackenzie' and two episodes of 'Are You The One?' which were at 0.43/0.32/0.31 in W18-49 (0.31/0.34/0.36 in F12-34) and at 486,000/416,000/359,000 in total viewers. Finally, on FXX, 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' saw slight gains from last week, up to 0.25 in the demo with 420,000 viewers (from 0.2/390K).

Wednesday September 5, 2018 Nielsen Finals

BET'S 'The Bobby Brown Story' dominated cable on Wednesday with a 1.02 adults 18-49 rating, amazingly up 0.01 from its Tuesday premiere, and more than double the ratings of the second-ranked show of the day, 'Real Housewives of NYC' (0.47). In the sub demos, 'Brown' performed best in women 18-49 (1.39 rating) and people 25-54 (1.16 rating). 'Real Housewives' found its best numbers in those same demos at 0.69 and 0.63 respectively. The season premiere of 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia,' on FXX, brought in a respectable 606,000 viewers and a 0.38 demo rating, doing quite well in men 18-49 (0.5) and males 12-34 (0.36). On USA Network, both 'The Sinner' and 'Suits' were at 0.29 in the demo, the former had 1.13 million viewers, while the latter averaged slightly higher at 1.3 million. 'Suits' does skew slightly older than 'Sinner,' averaging only a 0.15 in adults 18-34 compared to 0.24.

Wednesday August 29, 2018 Nielsen Finals

VH1's 'Black Ink Crew' topped Wednesday cable, notching a 0.75 rating in women 18-49 with 1.1 million viewers, and two episodes of 'Martha & Snoop Potluck' were at 0.41 and 0.34 in that demo with 650,000 and 565,000 in viewers. On Bravo, 'Real Housewives of NYC' garnered a 0.72 rating in women 18-49 and a 0.64 in people 25-54 with 1.39 million viewers, and 'Real Housewives of Dallas' was at 0.42/0.37 in those demos with 753,000 viewers. On USA Network, 'The Sinner' and 'Suits' were virtually even in total viewers, at 1.14 million and 1.13 million respectively, and in people 25-54 (0.32 rating); however, 'Sinner' led in women 18-49 (0.38 vs. 0.25), while' Suits' led in men (0.18 vs. 0.21). Two season finale episodes of Freeform's 'Alone Together' were at 86,000 and 61,000 viewers, and El Rey's 'Lucha Underground' averaged 83,000.

Wednesday August 22, 2018 Nielsen Finals

VH1's 'Black Ink Crew' topped Wednesday cable with a 0.51 adults 18-49 rating, including a 0.71 rating in women 18-49 and a 0.61 in females 12-34. Also airing on the network were two episodes of 'Martha and Snoop's Potluck' were at 0.34 and 0.26 in women 18-49. On Paramount, 'Yellowstone' was about even between men and women 18-49 (0.44 and 0.45 respectively), but strong in people over 50 (1.55). On Bravo, 'Real Housewives of NYC' had a 0.67 rating in women 18-49 and 'Real Housewives of Dallas' had a 0.41 in that demo. On MTV, 'Catfish' notched a 0.35 rating in females 12-34 and a 0.42 rating in women 18-49, while TLC's 'Dr. Pimple Popper' had a 0.43 rating in women 18-49. Finally, on OWN, 'Queen Sugar' had a 0.25 in women 18-49 and a 0.34 in people 25-54.

U.S. Cable TV Ratings: 10/23 - 10/29/2017

Ratings highlights for the week of October 23, 2017 - October 29, 2017 on U.S. cable.

MONDAY
ESPN's coverage of 'Monday Night Football' between the Redskins and Eagles led all of television on Monday with a 3.89 18-49 rating, and beating everything except 'The Big Bang Theory' in total viewers, with 11.26 million. The game notched a 10.1/24 persons 2+ rating/share on ESPN (736,000 viewers), and an 8.9/22 rating/share (649,000) on the local affiliate WPHI IND. In Washington DC, the game had a 5.6/16 rating/share (363,000 viewers) on ESPN, and a 5.5/16 (353,000) on the local ABC affiliate. VH1's 'Love and Hip Hop Hollywood' trailed only 'Monday Night Football' in the female 18-49 demo (1.59), and was fourth on cable in the adults 18-49 demo (1.09); it had 2.14 million viewers. Three hours of 'WWE Entertainment' all made the top 10 on cable in adults 18-49 (1.15, 1.09, 0.94 respectively), and notched 3.33M, 2.97M, and 2.56M respectively in total viewers. In males 18-49, it did 1.45, 1.28, and 1.18. The season premiere episodes of Disney XD's 'Pickle and Peanut' were at 0.01 and 0.02 at 7AM & 7:30AM respectively, and at 71,000 & 65,000 viewers.

U.S. Cable TV Ratings: 10/16 - 10/22/2017

Ratings highlights for the week of October 16, 2017 - October 22, 2017 on U.S. cable.

MONDAY
ESPN's 'Monday Night Football' between the Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans notched a 2.89 18-49 rating and 8.38 million viewers. In the 18-49s, it was the top airing for the whole day on both broadcast and cable. The game led the entire day in adults 18-34 (2.38), and trailed only 'The Big Bang Theory' in adults 25-54 (4.0 vs. 3.3). Coverage on the MLB ALCS between the New York Yankees and Houston Astros was second on cable for the day with a 1.28 18-49 rating (1.71 in males), and 5.11 million viewers. In New York City, the game had 1.39 million viewers, and in Houston, the game notched 471,000. The season finale of VH1's 'Love & Hip Hop Hollywood' had a 1.6 females 18-49 rating and 2.12 million viewers; and part 1 of the 'Reunion' special followed at a 1.71 females 18-49 rating and 2.25 million viewers. The season 2 premiere of 'Martha and Snoop's Potluck Dinner Party' found 1.35 million viewers and a 0.94 in females 18-49.

U.S. Cable TV Ratings: 10/9 - 10/15/2017

Ratings highlights for the week of October 9, 2017 - October 15, 2017 on U.S. cable. 

MONDAY
ESPN's 'Monday Night Football' led the entire night (including Broadcast) in the 18-49s (3.71), and was third on the night (highest on cable) in total viewers, with 10.28 million. It hit huge numbers in households (6.13), adults 25-54 (4.09), and adults 50+ (4.24). It led the entire night in males 18-49 (5.36), males 18-34 (3.74), males 12-34 (3.74), and adults 18-34 (3.02). The MLB ALDS game, on FS1, had a 2.68 household rating and 4.49 million viewers. It was second on cable in males 18-49 (1.63), males 18-34 (1.35), males 12-34 (1.22), adults 18-34 (1.03), adults 18-49 (1.24), adults 25-54 (1.42), and adults 50+ (2.32). The MLB NLDS (Dodgers/Diamondbacks), on TBS, had a 1.33 rating in households and 2.21 million viewers. It did a 0.66 in adults 18-49 (0.91 in males), a 0.56 in 18-34 (0.73 in males), a 0.50 in people 12-34 (0.70 in males), and a 0.76 in adults 25-54. On VH1, 'Love and Hip Hop Hollywood' had a 1.62 in females 18-49 with 2.08 million viewers, and 'Black Ink Crew Chicago' had a 0.87 in females 18-49 with 1.12 million viewers. Ovation's 'The Halcyon' had a minuscule 0.01 in the 18-49s and 58,000 viewers.

Crow's Blood (El Rey): Ratings Recap

'Crow's Blood' is a Japanese horror drama miniseries that aired in the summer of 2016 in Japan. In the United States, it aired all 6 episodes on El Rey Network from 6pm - 12am on October 28, 2017. It premiered to a 0.01 18-49 rating and 46,000 viewers. It ended with 24,000 viewers from 11pm - 12am.

U.S. Cable TV Ratings: 9/25 - 10/1/2017

Ratings highlights for the week of September 25, 2017 - October 1, 2017 on US cable. 

MONDAY
The top show of the night on cable was ESPN's 'Monday Night Football' which featured the Dallas Cowboys vs. the Arizona Cardinals  The game had a 5.1 18-49 rating and 13.691 million US viewers, as well as a 7.0 in males 18-49 (3.1 in females). It also had an 8.2 household rating and a 4.2 18-34 rating (5.8 males vs. 2.6 females). In Dallas, it notched a 29.0 rating and in Phoenix it did a 22.2. In San Antonio, the game did a 20.9 and in Austin it was at 20.3.

'Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood' (VH1) did a 1.1 with 2 million viewers, and 3 episodes of 'Hip Hop Squares' were at 0.64/1.18M, 0.6/1.08M, and 0.53/955,000. 'Teen Mom II' (MTV) had a 0.73 with 1.21 million viewers, and 'Siesta Key' did 0.38/598,000. On Bravo, 'Real Housewives of OC' had a 1.61 & 1.59M viewers while 'Real Housewives of Dallas' was almost half of that at only 0.35 & 832,000. Comedy Central saw the series premiere of 'The Opposition' which notched a 0.24 and 532,000 viewers. By comparison, that timeslot's previous owner, 'The Nightly Show,' premiered to 0.45/963,000 back in January 2015 was at 0.21/625,000 for its series finale. 'The Daily Show' had 995,000. Other shows of note include: 'I Am Frankie' (Nickelodeon) which had 1.17 million viewers, 'Fatal Attraction' (TV One) which did 294,000, and 'It Takes a Killer' (Oxygen) which found 187,000.

'Snowfall' Rises in Week 3, 'Suits' Stable in Week 2 | 2017-07-19

FX's 'Snowfall' rose to a 0.46 18-49 rating and 1,045,000 viewers this week for its third episode. This was up from last week's 0.39/965,000 viewers, but still not quite up at the same level as its premiere ratings on July 5 (0.58/1,361,000). The show continues to skew towards middle-aged males, hitting its highest demo in adults 25-54 (0.51), and leaning male in the 18-49s (0.57 vs. 0.36), 12-34s (0.26 vs. 0.17), and 18-34s (0.38 vs 0.27). In comparison to other FX dramas, the show is doing quite well so far. 'The Americans' averaged a 0.19 and 758,000 viewers this past spring, 'The Strain' averaged a 0.42 and 961,000 viewers last fall, 'Taboo' did 0.43 and 1,235,000 in its first season earlier this year, and 'Legion' did a 0.45 and 950,000.

USA's Suits' was stable in its second week of the season, pulling in an identical 0.36 18-49 rating, and down very slightly in total viewers with 1,358,000 (from 1,398,000). It skewed female in the 18-49s (0.42 vs. 0.30), very slightly in the 18-34s (0.25 vs. 0.24), but had twin 0.2s in the 12-34s. The show averaged a 0.42 in the 18-49s last season (second only to 'Shooter'), and 1,601,000 viewers. Through 2 episodes this season, it's averaging 0.36 and 1,378,000.
