We employ some of the brightest minds in science, finance and policy to help us shape creative conservation strategies with lasting impacts — like the Forests Bond, and interest payment initiative that actually rewards land managers for protecting forests.
About Conservation International
We first took a stand for nature 30 years ago — and our stance hasn't wavered since.
A legacy of conservation
From the heart of Amazonia to the banks of the Mekong River, Conservation International has been at the forefront of the fight to secure critical natural areas all over the world. Since 1987, we've helped protect more than 6 million square kilometers (2.3 million square miles) of land and sea in 77 countries.
Your contributions sustain projects around the world that help ensure a healthy, prosperous planet. So stand with us. We all depend on nature, and by protecting nature, we're protecting ourselves.
Mission
Building upon a strong foundation of science, partnership and field demonstration, Conservation International empowers societies to responsibly and sustainably care for nature, our global biodiversity, for the well-being of humanity.
Vision
We imagine a healthy, prosperous world in which societies are forever committed to caring for and valuing nature, for the long-term benefit of people and all life on Earth.
People Need Nature
Whether it's the air we breathe or the resources that power our economies, nature is an essential part of our lives.
Our plan for its protection includes leveraging cutting-edge science to shift national policies, allying with local communities to improve livelihoods and working with worldwide partners to affect meaningful change on a global scale.
We all rely on the gifts that nature provides. That's why Conservation International is committed to building a healthier, more sustainable planet — not for some but for everyone.
We work hand-in-hand with indigenous peoples to improve their livelihoods without sacrificing their environments. In 2017, we inked a deal with Suriname's Matawai people, establishing protections for the Matawai community forest while giving residents a way to derive sustainable income from their land.
To overcome the world's conservation challenges, we need to think globally. That's why we lead conservation projects in more than 70 countries around the world, maintain offices on 5 continents and work with some 2,000 partners — including communities, countries and corporations.
Global reach
With offices in more than 30 countries and a track record of supporting projects everywhere from the waters of the Pacific to the sands of sub-Saharan Africa, Conservation International is well positioned to promote sustainability where it's needed most: all over the world.
