NEWS! The Final Report of the Climate Change Advisory Committee is complete.

There is a growing scientific consensus that increasing emissions of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere are increasinging the temperature and variability of the Earth’s climate. Recognizing the profound implications that global warming and climate variation could have on the economy, environment and quality of life in Montana, the Climate Change Advisory Committee (CCAC) was established with the aim of formulating recommendations for specific actions for reducing or sequestering greenhouse gas emissions. The Committee also identified opportunities to promote energy efficient technologies and clean, renewable energy resources that will enhance economic growth.

The Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) managed the CCAC, which was made up of 18 members representing a broad range of stakeholders including industry, environmental groups, local and tribal governments, transportation, and agriculture.  The Center for Climate Strategies provided facilitation and technical support to the DEQ and the CCAC.
