Nintendo R&D4;

This most famous of Nintendo's internal development teams at its Kyoto, Japan, headquarters started out as Nintendo R&D4; (Research and Development 4) but later became Nintendo EAD. Headed up by Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka, R&D4; was behind some of Nintendo's biggest franchises and has emerged as the company's premier development team.
In 1989, Nintendo R&D4; became Nintendo EAD (Entertainment Analysis & Development), focused to 90% on console game development.
