Since June 2002, I have had the high privilege of serving northeast Texans as Chief Justice of the Sixth Court of Appeals. My current term ends with 2016, but, with help from you and others, I seek to serve another six-year term through 2022. I will run hard to that end.
In the 13 years I've served in this role, this court has produced results I hope you find satisfactory. I'll admit to pride in this court's record. We have consistently ranked among the most prompt and efficient of the intermediate appellate courts in Texas—often THE most prompt. In fact, at the end of the latest fiscal year, as of 8/31/2015, this court ranked first of the fourteen courts in 6 of the 7 "rankable" performance measures reported by the Office of Court Administration. (For more information on the statistics, see my excerpted Statistical Report.) I hope you will agree that, even more importantly than bare statistics, we have consistently sought to follow the law in administering justice even-handedly and responsibly, as we should and as my oath of office requires.
It is time to prepare a responsible defense of this court's record under my leadership. I respectfully request your help in one or more of the following ways, should you be willing:
- ENDORSE: Please tell those within your sphere of influence of the importance of this seat in the Texas justice system and endorse me for reelection. And, may I add your name to my supporter list?
- GIVE: Please make a campaign contribution to help us get the word out and to properly prepare the defense. Checks (non-corporate), made to Morriss for Justice, should be mailed to 217 W Broad, Apt. D, Texarkana, TX 75501. Thank you.
- ADVISE: Please give me your advice concerning people and groups I should be in touch with, to build relationships, to answer questions or concerns, or to get key help in my campaign.
I am honored to serve you in this position. Thank you in advance for your help.
