'The Dark Knight Rises' Composer Hans Zimmer Releases New Music to Benefit Aurora Victims [Audio]

      BERJAYA
"I am devastated by this tragedy, and my heart is with the victims, survivors and their loved ones. Words fail me," wrote Hans Zimmer on Facebook in the early days following the shocking events of July 20, when 12 people were killed and dozens wounded by a masked gunman at a midnight screening of Zimmer's new film, The Dark Knight Rises, in Aurora, Colorado. While words may fail the multiple award-winning film composer, music obviously does not. In support of the victims and their loved ones, Zimmer has created a new work which can be downloaded in exchange for a donation as small as 10 cents, with all proceeds going to the victims of the Aurora tragedy. You can hear a sample below.

Marvel And ABC In Talks For Possible 'Avengers' Spin-Off TV Show

        BERJAYA
With Guillermo del Toro's Hulk taking its time and planned television versions of The Punisher and Alias not being picked up by networks, there's a Marvel Comics-shaped hole in network television right now. That's something that ABC and Marvel are said to be working on, however, with a live-action primetime spin-off of this summer's The Avengers movie apparently being discussed.

Best Batman Cosplay Ever (This Week) - 07.30.12

          BERJAYA
Although cosplay has been present for decades within the comics, anime, and sci-fi/fantasy fandoms, social media has played an integral role in the thriving community of costuming that exists today and cosplay communities such as Cosplay.com and the Superhero Costuming Forum. In honor of the many fans who've displayed excellence in the mastery of homemade disguise, craftsmanship, and sartorial superheroics, ComicsAlliance has created Best Cosplay Ever (This Week), a weekly collection of some of the most impeccable, creative, and clever costumes that we've discovered and assembled into our own super-showcase of pure fan-devoted talent.

Although I have a tendency to include Bat-related costumes every week on ComicsAlliance, this week is the Batman edition of Best Cosplay Ever (This Week). Just because.

Secrets Abound In 'Love And Capes: What To Expect' #1 [Preview]

              BERJAYA

I'm not a dad myself, but as the proud uncle of a bunch of baby dudes and ladies, I've recently gotten to watch my share of family members and friends go through the process of making the jump from freewheeling to what I call "parentsponsible." Thom Zahler will take readers on a similar, if super-fied, ride beginning this Wednesday in IDW's Love and Capes: What to Expect #1, the first of a six-issue miniseries following the pregnancy of Abby and her husband Mark. Naturally, Mark's secret crimefighting career as the superhero The Crusader complicates matters, and the pair must confront the realities of bringing a potentially superpowered baby into their world. You can peer into the first seven pages of their journey to parenthood in a preview provided to us by IDW, after the jump.

'Beware The Batman' Reportedly Reexamining Weapon Imagery In Light Of Aurora Shootings

                BERJAYA
Cartoon Network's upcoming CG animated Beware The Batman series is reportedly under review by Warner Bros. following the July 20 shooting tragedy in Aurora, Colorado that left 12 dead and dozens injured. According to Variety, "An unspecified number of alterations were made to some designs and situations on the series to minimize the amount of weapon imagery deemed too realistic." These changes were reportedly made by order WB Animation executive VP and BTB executive producer Sam Register, who asked producers scrutinize weapon use by the show's cast of characters (likely including Batman's ally Alfred who was depicted using two handguns in early promotional materials for the series).

Lazy Oaf x Batman Collection Channels '90s Batmania [Fashion]

                  BERJAYA
British creative label Lazy Oaf launched a Batman-inspired apparel collection for both men and women, just in time to celebrate the success of The Dark Knight Rises. Known for their bright, pop culture-infused graphics inspired by fast food and Disney, the East London-based design team's take on Batman channels the fun, kitschy side of the Dark Knight. From cropped baseball tees to logo-splattered dresses, the Lazy Oaf x Batman collection is actually quite reminiscent of the material we saw in Batmania craze of the early '90s that followed the popularity of Tim Burton's first Batman film.

Fan-Made 'Shards of Equestria' Card Set Brings You 'My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic: The Gathering'

                    BERJAYA

If I had to guess, I'd say that the Venn diagram of adult fans of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and people who have at least some passing familiarity with the Magic: The Gathering collectible card game has an overlap somewhere in the neighborhood of 100%. As a result, it was pretty much inevitable that there would be something that mashed the two franchises up, and this week, it finally happened with Shards of Equestria, a fan-made expansion focusing on everyone's favorite ponies.

Check out a few of the cards after the jump!

The Messed-Up History Of Marvel's 'Captain Marvel' And Why It Doesn't Matter

                      BERJAYA

With the debut this month of newly ranked Captain Marvel Carol Danvers, Marvel has officially published stories featuring seven -- count 'em, seven -- versions of the character, and that's not even counting any of the various alternate-universe incarnations. Why so many iterations? Well, basically, Marvel will lose its trademark on the name "Captain Marvel" if the company doesn't publish a comic with that title every few years. But even then, why couldn't they trot out the same version of the character every odd-numbered year or something? Because since the death of the original Captain Marvel in 1982, Marvel hasn't had a Captain Marvel with staying power.

                      Until now.

Frederik Jurk Draws Freckled And Tattooed Girls With A Mischievous Edge [Art]

                          BERJAYA
I love drawings of pretty girls. There's something especially wonderful about an artist who really captures what he or she truly loves about a female form. For Frederik Jurk, it's a sense of playful self-expression, deliberately ragged haircuts, the occasional bumps or bruises, and lots and lots of freckles. Beyond all that, though, is the sense that his ladies are staring out from their portraits, sometimes coyly, sometimes defiantly, but always with the sense that they know something that we don't.
