As we continue to adjust our content mix for 2012, how interested are you in gaming news from Japan? Years ago, it was something that gamers all cared very deeply about, as the country was the cradle of creativity for much of what we truly cared about. In recent years, it seems that this has changed. Do you want to read more Japanese gaming news on GameSpot?

We updated our story on SOPA (and PIPA) that we posted last November. New version includes latest updates since the blackouts today, and additional information about who has backed out of supporting the bills.

Ubisoft's Tony Key says "We are finally getting respect from hardcore gamers, because people are starting to understand more than anything that there is a time and a place where Just Dance is the right choice." Do you agree?

Shouting at yourself in a game is a bit weird...

Mass Effect 3's Kinect integration works great when you're talking to squadmates. When you're talking to yourself, it gets a little weird.

Purists think that the fact that the Syndicate reboot is a shooter is sacrilege. That may be the case, but that doesn't mean it's not shaping up to be an interesting-looking game. GameSpot's Justin Calvert went to EA's offices to check it out, and says "Did I leave EA feeling like my memories of Syndicate are being betrayed somehow? Or that as a matter of principal there's no way I'll ever play the finished game? No way. I left EA that day eager to experiment with more of the game's weapons, trying to figure out which of my friends will play through the co-op missions with me next month, and wondering if it was me or one of the other agents who had somehow managed to cut an enemy clean in half at one point."

Cooperative play in EA's new first-person shooter may win over even its biggest naysayers.

GameSpot  -  Would definitely be interesting to see if a more tactical/RTS style thing would work (maybe Syndicate as more of a MOBA-style game, perhaps?) but it seems that this shooter is being used as a way to gauge appetite for that.

CBS News's profile photoCBS News originally shared this post:
Google confirmed in a statement that it will join Wikipedia, Reddit and other influential tech firms in staging protests of varying kinds against the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and Protect IP Act (PIPA), which are backed by big entertainment and media interests.

"Like many businesses, entrepreneurs and web users, we oppose these bills because there are smart, targeted ways to shut down foreign rogue websites without asking American companies to censor the Internet," a Google spokeswoman said. "So tomorrow we will be joining many other tech companies to highlight this issue on our US home page."

zak edson  -  Another form of cramming is Chipmunking. So, Content Chipmunking could be the G rated version of quick aggressive content delivery. Once chipmunked the user can take some time to chew, swallow, and digest. If you haven't watched the vid yet then this comment may seem a bit out of place.

Introduction

GameSpot is all about videogames and the gamers that love them. We live, eat, breathe and probably do lots of other things with videogames that shouldn't be allowed in polite society.

GameSpot has been around for more than 15 years, and is part of the CBS Interactive group in San Francisco.
