Travel Information

How do I get to court?

The court is situated in Dale Street at the end nearest the fly-over It is about five minutes walk from the bus terminal at Queens Square, Liverpool City Centre. The nearest railway station is Moorfields, off Dale Street. Central Station and Lime Street Station are both within ten minutes walk from the court.

The court is approximately two minutes’ walk from Moorfields Railway Station and is convenient for those arriving by either the Northern or Wirral Lines. Lime Street Station and Central Station are approximately ten minutes’ walk away. The Queens Square bus terminal, which is the terminal for all buses coming into the city centre, is approximately five minutes’ walk from the court.

Car Parking


There are no public parking facilities at the court. The closest parking facilities are situated in Hatton Garden where there are a small number of parking meter bays. There is an NCP car park in Vernon Street, where disabled parking is available on the ground floor, and an NCP car park in the Queens Square Complex. A pay and display car park is situated on Victoria Street.

Refreshments


Refreshments are provided by the WRVS in the main court waiting areas in Dale Street and Crown Buildings from 9.30 am to 3.30 pm Monday to Friday. There is a vending machine located in the Youth Court complex.

Toilets / Telephones


Public toilets and telephones are situated in the main hall and are clearly signposted.

Baby changing facilities


Baby changing facilities are available in the ladies’ toilets.

Children


If you have children, please make arrangements for them to be looked after whilst you are at court as the waiting areas are unsuitable for them and we are unable to offer crèche facilities.

Waiting areas


Seating is available outside each courtroom for everyone attending court and there are separate waiting rooms available if necessary. The court operates a ‘no smoking’ policy in its buildings.

Personal or business cheques and postal orders should be made payable to "Merseyside Magistrates' Court". Please write your fine/maintenance account number(s) together with the full name and address of the account holder on the reverse of the cheque or postal order.

Cash should only be sent in a registered envelope.

If you require a receipt, please enclose a stamped addressed envelope with your payment.

Paypoint
If you already have a fine account you can use the confidential PayPoint system. You can pay your fine anywhere displaying the PayPoint symbol. For more information contact the Central Cash Office on 0151 293 8301/2/3/4/5. Please have your fine account reference number available to enable us to assist you more promptly.

Disabled Facilities


If you are disabled and unable to use the steps, please contact the listing officer in advance and arrangements will be made for you to use the lift. The telephone number is 0151 243 5500.

Several courts are fitted with an "inductive loop". Most modern hearing aids have a mode of operation, which can use this feature.

Please check with the listing officer and we will try and allocate the case in which you are involved to one of those courts.
