Today is World Bee Day and there’s a buzz coming out of GRuB as they celebrate 25 years of growing healthy food, people and community. We’ve proudly partnered with GRuB for 10+ years, working and learning alongside them through volunteer hours, funding, team builders, etc. It's that rewarding kind of partnership where you don’t just talk about community, you get your boots dirty in it. World Bee Day is a good reminder: Like GRuB, bees are some of the hardest workers out there when it comes to keeping our food systems going. Without bees and pollination, growing the kind of fresh, local food GRuB is known for just wouldn’t be possible. And GRuB doesn’t just grow food, they cultivate skills, opportunity and real impact across our region. We’ll just say it: they’re the bees knees. Happy 25 years, GRuB! Consider this a big hive five from all of us at WSECU! 🌱🐝 https://www.goodgrub.org/

Founded by public employees and dedicated to the common good. Washington's Credit Union.
About us
WSECU was founded in 1957 as a small, community-driven credit union for Washington State employees. Today, WSECU membership is offered to all Washington residents. We have more than 300,000 members, 23 branches, and manage more than $5 billion in member assets. WSECU is committed to helping our members get to where they want to go, which is why we've created a comprehensive and convenient suite of financial services — and we've made them accessible from wherever our members happen to be. We're a not-for-profit cooperative credit union, and we belong to our members, which means that we listen to them — really listen to them. We believe in doing what's right by them every time, even when it's not necessarily what's easy for us. Our goal is to provide support to our community while looking to the future and building something of lasting value for our members. The innovative spirit that helped us get started more than 60 years ago is still alive and well. What's it like to work with us? Our employees say that working with us feels like being part of a close-knit community, united by shared values and a passion for exceptional member service. We look out for one another because we believe that when one of us succeeds, we all do. Sound like your kind of place? Let’s build something enduring together. WSECU is federally insured by the NCUA | Equal Housing Opportunity.

Last week we celebrated public employees and they gave us some love as well. Thanks to all of them for the shoutouts AND for the long hours they spend every day putting out fires, answering emergency calls, keeping our streets clean, our water safe, teaching the next generation, the list goes on! We were honored to support this year's Public Service Recognition Week celebration at the Capitol. It was great to connect with so many of you as you stopped by our table, sharing stories that remind us of our shared love for our communities. To every public employee, thank you. This week and every week, we see you and we’re grateful.

Tie Dye Tim is back, making the rounds. Cape = tie-dye T-shirt. Superpower = brownies.🌈 For years now, TDT has been swinging through branches spreading good vibes and his fresh-baked magic, bringing that unmistakable Tie Dye Tim energy our teams know and love. Just when you think you've eaten your last brownie … there he is. Legend. When it comes to brownie points, he’s got all of them.

Service is at the heart of strong communities, and public employees have always been at the heart of our heritage. It's Public Service Recognition Week, so we’re taking this moment to recognize those who give their time, talent and care to others every day. Join us as we thank them, appreciate them and celebrate them. Tag someone you know who works hard for our communities across federal, state, county and local government. We’re so grateful for all they do. If you're in Olympia, celebrate with us today, Wednesday, May 6, 11-1, at the East Plaza Lawn across from Capitol Campus — enjoy hot dogs, swag, music and guest speakers! It’s National Teacher Appreciation Day! Originally founded to serve state employees, teachers have always been close to the heart of WSECU. Join us in celebrating National Teacher Appreciation Week (May 4-8) and the educators who spark curiosity, build confidence and show up every day ready to make a difference. In partnership with Seattle Sports, we’re proud to sponsor Teacher of the Week. Know a teacher who goes the extra mile? Nominate them for a chance to win a $500 grant for school supplies and help us shine a spotlight on the people shaping what’s next. To every educator: thank you for the energy, heart and long hours of dedication you bring into your classrooms. You make a bigger impact than you know. ✨ See the link to view entry rules and nominate an amazing teacher! https://lnkd.in/gJzafYCP

In celebration of AANHPI Heritage Month, we’re putting ube in the spotlight. 💜 “Oo-beh” is a vibrant purple yam from the Philippines that’s been showing up in Filipino desserts for generations, long before it started popping up at a certain coffee shop around town. 👀 Quick note: not all purple things are ube. If it’s bright purple all the way through? Ube. If it’s just purple on the outside … not ube. As far as flavor goes, if it’s dessert, ube’s probably already done it. Ube halaya. Ube cake. Ube cheesecake. Brownies. Crinkle cookies. Leche flan. Ice cream. Mochi pancakes. Halo-halo. Pandesal. Polvoron. Puto. Biko. It might be trending, but ube is part of a long-standing food tradition and one of many flavors that make up AANHPI cultures. Are you already on the ube train, or just getting started? If you have a favorite way to ube, let us know in the comments.👇💜

Today and every day, we honor WSECU founder Ed Montermini and celebrate him in the wake of his passing at the age of 95. Ed believed deeply in the power of a credit union done right, one that never lost sight of the community it serves. From a small group of public employees in 1957 to hundreds of thousands of members today, his vision continues to guide us. In 2014, Ed spoke in an interview that captured some of the oral history of WSECU: “I just knew when I started this thing, when I checked into what a credit union was, I just knew it was a good thing ... I never deviated from the course of service to the members – they are the owners. No exceptions.” Thank you, Ed, for believing that people deserve better from their financial institution. We are proud to carry your legacy forward.

Giving back isn’t extra, it’s just how we do things. 💪 Last year, WSECU employees logged 3,150 hours of paid volunteer time supporting communities across the state, showing up where it matters most, from local shelters to neighborhood organizations. We celebrated the effort with some well-earned WSECU blankets. This is what we can accomplish together. Want to see more of what 2025 made possible? We're so excited to be back in the ballpark! Check out this cool opportunity we had to partner with PNW legends Rick Rizzs and Steve Raible. They have been the voices behind some unforgettable sports moments in Washington and now they’re teaming up (for the first time EVER!) to share their support for WSECU. Two icons, side by side. Now that’s a lineup we can get behind. We've got lots more of these to share - Here’s to great stories and the big moments ahead! ⚾ Play ball!
