325,800 unemployed jobseekers in January

Unemployed jobseekers at the end of January, a total of 325,800. This is 34,600 more than a year earlier.
The number of unemployed jobseekers rose by 34,600 from January of last year. The number of new vacancies reported totalled 65,600. In all, the number of unfilled vacancies in January was 95,400, which is 38,000 fewer than a year ago.

Consultation round on amendments to grounds for terminating employment begins

According to the Government Programme, the regulation concerning the grounds for terminating employment related to the employee will be amended so that, in future, a proper reason would be sufficient for terminating an employment contract. The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment requests comments on the legislative amendments to be submitted between 24 February and 7 April 2025. The amendments have been prepared in a tripartite working group that was not unanimous in its work.
