But... will Offline GMail be ported to use HTML5 in the future? I actually use it, even though it's a bit shaky right now.

Chris: As explained in the Chrome Blog, a screen reader is used to read the contents of a web page to a blind person via voice or braille.

Has this been added to a release?

http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=78261

I'm still seeing the bug in this release.

BTW, I'm glad to see that bookmarks w/out a favicon now have the Omnibox icon. Much better!

Now everytime that chrome is not in focus and I open a new chrome window, chrome won't take focus back... window just starts minimized... this is one of the reasons why I went back to using beta from developer... This is not when using CTRL + N... this is opening a new window from the quick launch bar or the desktop icon

This bug needs to get fixed... If I open a new chrome window it should have focus right away and be ready to type a new URL...

What the hell happend? Just let 12.0.742.30 install and qurouis as I am, gave html5test.com a go. I weas expecting that this vversion would score better than 11.x.x.x (293 points), but, WTF, it only scored 291
points.

Hi,
how can I activate the confirmation dialog when pressing CMD+Q on Mac?
The flag in about:flags is gone but I can not find the feature anywhere else.

You can find an entry in the application menu on the Mac for Chrome (Warn Before Quitting). Selecting it will trigger it on (or off).

Removing Google Gears is not an upgrade! For me offline Gmail is a vital tool, which I use all day, every day.

I am switching to the stable version of Chrome now in order to avoid this "upgrade". When the stable version gets upgraded as well, I'll have to start using Firefox again. This is really sad.

ever since the last dev before this recent one
12.0.742.30 dev-m
my googlechrome eventually fails to check for updates in the about dialog box (windowsxp 32bit). i had to manually close whole googlechrome and fetch the dev-channel manual .exe installer from the googlechrome page and install the dev version of 12.0.742.16 i think, and then it upraded itself via the about dialogbox to the current dev: 12.0.742.30

right now the about dialogbox again fails with error 3, no update servers available. everything else is fine browsing surfing downloading. i am not using any proxy whatsoever.

what is wrong with googlechrome lately? its too buggy in fetching the updates via its builtin mechanism. this sucks :(

it was error 3 updateserver not available with the former 12. dev build as well.

what on googleearth is going on here? please look into this and fix. thanks.

@Jason Kersey Thank you for the hint.
I think you should reconsider putting the Warn Before Quitting option in the application menu on Mac.
As a Mac user, this is the last place I would have looked for it, as I can not think of one other application that puts an item there that can be toggled.
I think a better place would be to put it into chrome://settings/browser Why don't you show a dialog that allows the user to choose to turn the feature on the first time he presses CMD+Q?

For people wondering why Chrome 12 gets 2 less points than Chrome 11 in HTML5 test, this is because WebKit has removed support for the onformchange and onforminput events, following the change in HTML5 specification (http://html5.org/tools/web-apps-tracker?from=5927&to=5928).

Hardware acceleration no longer works on youtube. Big Buck Bunny 1080p now maxes out my cpu and stutters. (ATI HD4650 (AGP))

Like others, I keep getting update server not available - error 3 with previous versions. I think it's due to googleupdate attempting to alter a file in Norton Internet Security 2011.
ACTOR: program files\google\update\googleupdate.exe
TARGET: program files\norton internet security\18.5.0.125\ccsvchst\.exe
ACTION: unauthorized access blocked (open process token)

Please, please don't push print preview/settings to the next release again.

@Will: you can still activate Print Preview by typing about:flags in the address bar, then find the Print Preview feature, enable it and restart Chrome 12 beta.

I have to admit that Print Preview is nearly complete but not yet finalized (nor perfect) in Chrome 12 beta AND not even mentioned in this Chrome 12 beta blog. But at least Print Preview in Chrome 12 beta works to some extent, even though it's still experimental.

Chrome always uses a cached version of javascript files now? even after a refresh of the site, this is very annoying when developing a website. having to clear cache every time is too time consuming.

when will we get print preview, the versions keep flying by and still no progress on this basic feature.

Without that we cant print company documents such as invoices, or delivery labels since it shows a URL and date in the header and footer.

This simple issue, is a big draw back for chrome. otherwise well done.

@snozwoz: like I said in my previous comment with will, print preview in chrome 12 is there but you just have to enable it from the "Experiments" tab when you type "about:flags" in Chrome's address bar.

they just don't want to finish it in chrome 12 but print preview is nearly working in version 12.
