The Rimbunan Hijau (PNG) Group - also known simply as RH - has been operating in Papua New Guinea for more than two decades. It is a group of companies based in Papua New Guinea with interests in forestry, timber processing, palm oil, media, retail and property development.

RH has expanded from a small forestry operation to become one of Papua New Guinea's largest employers and PNG's leading manufacturer and exporter of forest products.

RH is a significant contributor to the nation's economic and social wellbeing. RH works closely with landowners, communities, NGOs and government agencies as part of its operations.

RH established Vision City development as part of its long-term investment strategy for Papua New Guinea (PNG). The US$400 million (1 billion kina) investment will incorporate a residential/hotel complex, a three-storey retail development and a 10-storey office complex. The project will employ around 1,800 people during construction, and house or employ more than 5,000 people in hospitality, management and other sectors once completed. Vision City will generate more than K200 million in economic activities annually.

RH has also recently expanded its operations in oil palm development in East New Britain Province, in PNG.The Sigite Mukus Integrated Rural Development Project is an approved area for agriculture development of 42,000 hectares, with 31,000 ha allocated for oil palm development. It is expected to contribute royalties, premium payments, infrastructure levies and other community funding worth K834 million (US$390 million) over the project's lifespan and provide transport and social infrastructure to the local communities.

RH also takes the environment seriously. RH is Papua New Guinea's industry leader on environmentally responsible and 100 per cent legal management of forests.

RH (PNG) CELEBRATES 20th ANNIVERSARY IN STYLE The Rimbunan Hijau (PNG) Group has celebrated its 20th anniversary in Papua New Guinea in style with a gala evening attended by the former Acting Prime Minister, Samuel Abal, various Cabinet Ministers and Members of Parliament, company officials and local business leaders. The highlight of the evening was a speech by Rimbunan Hijau (RH) Executive Chairman Tan Sri Datuk Sir Tiong Hiew King, who had flown in from Malaysia especially for the historic occasion. PALM OIL PROJECT BRINGS DEVELOPMENT TO POMIO The Sigite Mukus Integrated Rural Development Project in Pomio, East New Britain provides a stunning insight into what could be achieved by the palm oil industry in PNG. The project, currently in the development stage, is an approved area for agriculture development of 42, 000 hectares, with 31,000 ha allocated for oil palm development. It is expected to contribute royalties, premium payments, infrastructure levies and other community funding worth K834 million over the life of the project. Pro-growth NGO World Growth released a report - Immoral Aid: The effect of REDD+ on developing country economies - at the UN climate conference in Qatar in December. It warns the donor-driven "REDD+" program to reduce emissions from deforestation advances Western interests to the detriment of developing countries. A review of the program by the World Bank also shows it is grossly inefficient, costing US$22 million to disburse just $4 million in grants.
