New Zealand music icon Gin Wigmore returned to live in New Zealand recently and tops the Aotearoa Top 20 Albums Chart with her long-awaited fourth studio album, Beautiful Mess – which also enters the Top 40 at #5. Wigmore’s first full-length release in eight years, Beautiful Mess chronicles the multi-faceted journey of her past decade – taking notes from country and Americana without surrendering her rock roots. Album tracks also grab four spots on the Hot 20 Aotearoa Singles Chart, while her now classic collab with Smashproof, Brother finds its way back into the Aotearoa Catalogue Singles Chart at #16.

Meanwhile, local phenomenon Fat Papi is getting his head around the runaway success of the prodshushy-produced Freaked Out, which jumps the queue to bump Hori Shaw and Te Wehi from the top spot on the Aotearoa Singles Chart for the first time in months. The Pōneke rapper is having a huge moment on the interwebs, helped by the pairing of the track with a TikTok showcasing a woman’s fresh bob cut. The track also tops the local Hot 20.
