Geographic subject data in GeoDanmark (GeoFA)

GeoFA is a voluntary collection of municipal data which is assessed to have value across municipal boundaries - both for external users and for the municipalities. It is free and voluntary for the municipalities to use the database for storing and displaying data – and it is also free for third parties to use the data.

The GeoFA database contains e.g. the municipal outdoor data (recreational paths and routes, shelters, fire pits, swimming beaches and other facilities) and school districts. see a full overview of the GeoFA subject specification, which you can find here: https://www.geodanmark.dk/home/vejledinger/geofa /vejledinger-til-geofa/

The GeoFA database has the strength that data is structured the same, so that data can be used and compared across municipal boundaries. Since it is voluntary for the municipalities to put data in GeoFA, not all datasets will be complete, both geographically and in terms of content. It is expected that more municipalities will continuously enter data.

Outdoor data in GeoFA GeoFA is the master data for many local (municipal) and national solutions, such as Udinaturen, Vestkystapp, Shelterapp, Hejcamp etc.

Udinaturen.dk is Denmark’s guide to experiences in nature, where via an interactive map you can get an overview of shelters, cycle routes, playgrounds, toboggan runs, toilets and much more. Udinaturen.dk also offers the option of adding facilities to the GeoFA database if you, as a private organization, have a facility that the public would like to have access to. In this way, GeoFA data flows automatically to many public and private solutions, while the GeoFA database can be supplemented with data via udinaturen.dk.
